Same situation here in Aus for people with communication disabilities like #aphasia. There are critical gaps in disaster mitigation, & emergency preparation & response that people living with aphasia report need to be filled & want to help fill!

It’s like Buddhism - better you come to it own your own. And once you’ve found it, inner peace is within reach.

Aphasia Therapy Finder Therapy finder platform for clinicians trying to provide treatment to patients living with aphasia

Aphasiatherapyfinder.com - here’s the url without typo this time 😂

It’s the product of an international Collaboration of Aphasia Trialists project led by Prof Miranda Rose. Over 70 researchers & clinicians contributed to its development & testing. Always thinking about ways to make it more useful. Be interested in your thoughts if you’re willing to have a look.

Could you please add me too? TIA!

Lovely work. I wonder if you’d consider a therapy implementation tool like aphasitherapyfinder.com a decision-support aid? To poster point 3, the ATF has therapy descriptions, resources, potential goals & videos of treatment in action. Thinking a decision-support statement could be useful too…

I think here in Aus, these considerations are ad hoc. What’s the situation where you are Brent? Is there a systematic approach to emergency preparedness? I’ve seen some materials that Jackie Hinkley shared for the hurricane season… anything else you know of?

I agree 😊 Fern and Kerry Dathan reached out recently. We’re meeting for a chat this week 👌 Very interested to hear about their work.

I feel very strongly that Person Centred Emergency Preparedness should be considered for all people with #aphasia & their immediate family. We surveyed folks this year & identified extreme vulnerability & dependence on others during emergencies. Work to do to close this gap.
