It looks great, no issues there. Simply the cost is a bit brutal for someone who wouldn't even recoop that in paid subscriptions.
Decided this morning is the morning that I move from Substack - Ghost seems to be most recommended but will cost me NZ$300/year just to have. Any other alternatives I should know about?
A photograph of a colourwork slipper knit in the round, in a black and raspberry diamond pattern. It's yet to have the toe sewn up or the foot-hole added.
A photograph for the slipper on a foot, it's a good fit but the foot-hole is open but not cast off and there's loose ends to weave in.
Well, he's gunna get one slipper for his birthday π
My other reflection is that managing your mental health when you have physical disabilities is almost as significant as managing the physical disabilities themselves - and I'm yet to see anyone really talk about this enough imo.
It's so wild when you are always battling and always trying new things that don't really work, and then WOW SOMETHING WORKS. Trying to just be pleased for any improvement, whether it lasts or not.
Every since I ended up in hospital in November, I have had brutal post viral fatigue (on par with the long covid I had in 2022-23).
Got a B12 injection and steroids on Friday, and wow. I've never felt so much better so fast - it's like being a new person.

No ACT Party at Waikato clubs day, but the TPU wandering around claiming they're a non-partisan campaign group under "Generation Screwed" π₯΄
And look, I'm a heathen too - I was there for chocolate chip ones but went home disappointed (with spiced fruitless buns)

Volunteering to solicit donations on the street, whilst being the architect of a bill that punishes other people doing so, while also doing it for a healthcare charity when his party has gutted the public health system...
The irony meter is off the charts today.
The average high for Feb last year was 27Β°, there's no public showers in the CBD (and a known lack of public toilets) - and we wondered why a person was showering in the fountain? To maintain a little bit of dignity?
But sure, let's clutch our pearls about it, that'll solve it
I remember asking staff, if I lock up my bike to a public bike rack, will I get a $20,000 fine? That's some of the specifics of the bylaw, "not attaching things to street furniture" except all bike racks are street furniture. Apparently I'm not a nuisance (I'm sure others would disagree).
A screen shot from Facebook of Ryan Hamilton holding a bucket and wearing a big, soliciting donations for the Heart Foundation outside Hillcrest New World.
The origins of the Move On orders are from Ham East National MP, Ryan Hamilton - former Hamilton City Councillor whose council colleagues are setting up bylaws of a $20,000 fine for basically being visibly homeless.
It begs the question, who's allowed to ask for money on the street and who isn't?
Voting systems are the awful intersection of Very Important and also Very Boring. The fact our country got a referendum across the line was huge and I'm so grateful to now live in a country that has actual proportional representation.
Obv very good results for the UK Greens (yayayay) but every time I have to look at the make up of their parliament, I'm so grateful for the nerds who got us MMP all those years ago.
The ground campaign won, and also in the New York mayoralty race.
The same efforts are needed here, which means volunteering in the thousands
Let's fucking goπ

Last night I had a dream my braces wires fell out, and I couldn't find my orthodontist (who I haven't seen irl for 18 years) and I was very stressed that my teeth were moving around my mouth.
Amazing what my brain can cook up to be worried about.
Sometimes as an adult it's very obvious you had a disfunctional upbringing, even if you weren't entirely aware of it at the time π π¬
A very lukewarm take for the evening, I read Wuthering Heights sometime in high school and found it boring af, but then again I also hated reading Jacqueline Wilson books as well but on reflection I'm like ohhh YUP
Just started The Pitt, and OOF.
One of the worst things about AI, for me, is that it takes away from people the sheer joy of writing. Schools donβt often make this point, but writing should be fun. Putting words together, finding ways to express yourself, the pure pleasure of a well-crafted sentence. 1/5
She can definitely GET to the library (she plays table tennis six nights a week), it's just finding stuff that she likes to the sheer volume she consumes haha. I bought her back two magazines and two books from the library today and she's almost finished one of the books already...
Hmm, maybe?
Yes! But she hates her laptop and phone and the kobo we bought her for Christmas won't support BorrowBox π
I love BorrowBox
Yes! It's one of the books I have (and signed by her).
She's a big fan! "That Russell Brown said some good things this week" is basically a catch phrase from her.
