I would say co-op phantoms of fromsoftware games kind of fit. I've done a lot of co-op, and very often it is a similar experience of mentorship, whether it's how to fight an enemy or where to go in an area to fight the boss. Generalizing it to invasions is just not accurate.

Dark Souls Remastered didn't go on sale on steam at all unless you owned a, as of the time, unbuyable copy of Prepare to Die Edition. Given, stacking discounts is crazy, but nobody else got a single one until 3 years after it's launch on steam. You're not missing anything, this is fromsoft's style.

Yeah I understand, dark souls 2 has numerous questionable design choices, which is why it's generally regarded as a black sheep of the series. I wish you luck in Shulva, the bosses there are quite tough.

I'd recommend that you don't try eleum loyce/crown of the ivory king in this case, since it is very long and requires a ton of aimless exploration to get what you need. Also it has the worst of those cbt areas in it. Do Shulva first and see how you feel.

Yeah, a lot of the dlc areas are a bit painful to get through, and each one of them has a cbt area which are the worst parts of the game, but there are some cool things and cool bosses if you decide to go through with it

Godrick's rune is an early game rune, through and through. The +5 in all stats will outdo the majority of the great rune bonuses early game, but once you start reaching softcaps for vigor and damage stats, the bonus is lessened by a lot, so usually it's swapped for radahn's or morgott's.

As a side note for if you ever do buy the game, do not neglect vigor if you enjoy not being one-shot, and try not to spread all your stats out, since you'll get very less damage out of a weapon if you aren't tailoring your stats to it's scaling.

Elden ring is still very much based on dexterity and reaction time, but it's definitely more newbie-friendly than the other soulslike games. If you really can't get the hang of it, it has options to partially avoid fighting close and dodging, mostly via summons and magic, but only partially.

I think darkest dungeon 2 is a fine game, but it shouldn't have been a darkest dungeon game. It's really not like the original in any way except the characters and a few pieces of the lore.
