We have a phantom e-bike stunt rider in our neighbourhood. He isn't trying to impress his friends; he travels solo. He rides wheelies and stands on his seat going down the trans Canada. The adult in me thinks he's a fool, but the little kid in me raised on Evel Knievel salutes him.

Global was an early supporter but dropped it. The show would have died if it weren't for an independent station in Edmonton, whose owner was a fan.

Important thread from a key voice on media consolidation. Spoiler: it's bleak. As Leonard Cohen said "You want it darker..."

...and so much of this is the direct result of a poorly functioning media system. Think of how Canada dodged a bullet with the collapse of SUN News Network. We have far more pressing concerns in Alberta than our currently snoozing bear population.

I'm still on the other side of these stats. After all this, 40% of Americans approve. That's disturbing.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announces fall referendum on immigration, constitutional questions | CBC News Premier Danielle Smith wants to hold a referendum in October on measures to limit immigration to Alberta and changes she believes would give the province more rights under the Constitution.

All of these discussions in Alberta need to begin with the question: "When will you bring in a provincial sales tax like every other province? Then we can talk." www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

A snowstorm in Alberta always serves as a reminder of why we pay taxes. No provincial sales tax here but don't expect your roads to be cleared of snow any time soon.

Reposting for daytime Bluesky. I crunched the numbers on CBC's Winter Games Opening Ceremonies broadcast and counted over 15 minutes of ads in the first hour.

The word "only" is used a little too loosely here in my view. That's a lot of Americans who have no problem with a police state.
