Ottawa spends buckets of $ to clear away snowbanks every year. This is subsidy to car infrastructure; we’d not need to (generally) if we didn’t prioritize free car storage on public streets, make is easy for giant off street parking lots (punishing small biz) and make transit, bike/walk easier
Also doesnt count staff, office, and programming costs. Depending on uni, VPs and decanal offices r running large budgets. Some of that staff is re deployed but still huge admin cuts. Good to see.
Compensation is fine but misses the point that the people who run transit in ottawa HATE public transit.
More effective angle would be shaming. Take every Jim Watson plaque down from the city. Replace w debts and names of all councillors who supported and enabled him. Make a public legacy where he would be unwelcome on any boards or local picnics.
That there are five #ICE offices in Canada - in Ottawa, Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, & Vancouver - is not only morally reprehensible but a public security issue.
They are not law enforcement; they're the paramilitary branch of a fascist leader.
Their operations in Canada must be ended.
