As I got older I struggled with a period of negative body shame and as a way to battle those fears I harked back to our whānau ‘tradition’ whenever I hiked near water on my own, and over time, this led to embracing freehiking and nude beaches with friends as well. 3/3

Many of these hikes ended at or passed by swimming spots. Dad would always strip off entirely, saying there was no sense in wearing or carrying wet clothes. We got used to it and sometimes did the same. 2/3
