I don’t think most people even remember why Bluesky was created any more at this point. But it certainly wasn’t to have yet another social media app where you account depended on the whims of a very small group.
Maybe before we conclude the only way to achieve the world we want to live in is targeted killings in the streets we could think about why 90 million eligible voters chose not to participate in US elections last month? That’s 12x the total population of the swing state I live in (Arizona).

“They did it first so we get to do it too” is a position that fails to acknowledge that many of us don’t fit into either “we” or “they”.
Both Republicans and Democrats think they represent 51%+ of the country and anyone not part of their group comprises the opposition. In reality they each represent ~30% of the population which leaves 40% of the population who see no material benefit every time they justify a partisan behavior.
It’s weird. I wouldn’t necessarily agree with it but you could make a dispassionate argument about certain individuals being unfairly targeted by the incoming administration and there being a need to protect them from legal overreach. But so few are approaching it that way. It’s all “lol who cares?”
If you have to be related to Biden to benefit from the fact that he doesn’t care about precedence or appearances in the next two months that’s pretty messed up.
Smarter people than me have made this point but lots of people who aren’t well-connected face an uncertain future under a Trump presidency. What norms is Biden willing to violate on their behalf in the last few weeks of his presidency?
I hate this attitude so much. Plenty of us who have opposed Trump every step of the way hate this. If you can’t be better than Trump just own it. Stop excusing corruption.

I have little doubt he’ll commit an impeachable offense. But I’m actually pretty skeptical that there are enough Republicans in the House willing to hold him accountable.

It’s pretty crazy that Bluesky has 20+ million users. I really hope the growth continues. AT protocol should be the future of social media.

Bluesky is a better *platform* than threads but I'm absolutely willing to concede that the community is too toxic to thrive.
If Bluesky were to really act like a profit maximizing business it might consider just banning a bunch of the worst offenders.

Unlike management at this site or Twitter, the people in charge are not overtly hostile to journalists and journalism. I think Bluesky still has the potential to be a great product. But too many of its users don’t believe having a variety of perspectives is a positive
He revealed the U.S. government was violating the law with its own citizens as the victims. Obama didn’t do that. The thousands of others who knew about the illegal program said nothing. You don’t have to use the word hero if you don’t like it but you should acknowledge how everyone else failed
