An image of a castle on a rocky hill.
Today’s session about Honest Church prompted us to think deeply about trans* experience. The loveliness of the setting and the weather stands in such contrast to the pain inflicted on these precious children of God. Which only brings the absurdity of rejection and cruelty into sharper focus.
Arrived on Holy Island for a Community of the Cross of Nails retreat. Not here for birdwatching, honest. But the weather is SO nice and the birdsong is incredible!
Please consider signing up for this amazing creative writing workshop (!) by the frabjous @clareshawpoet.bsky.social … in support of the #trans community and @goodlawproject.org in particular… honoured that the title is taken from one of my poems. #poetry #writing #literature
Donald Trump is no longer the most powerful American in the world... #LeoXIV
It was really hard to get a good picture but the Coventry Trans* rights protest was an intense and thoughtful experience with some brilliant speakers.
An image from the trans rights protest in London in the background with a text overlay which reads: No hesitation. Trans women are women. Greens Organise logo at the bottom.
In this toxic culture war, so many people are looking for hope. We want the Green Party to solidly be leading that fight.

Ha!
That is an extra level of weird, mine is usually cows and horses, no more useful, but not quite as bizarre

A beautiful day to be in Oxford. I’ve been on a panel talking about the discrimination that women in ministry still experience and it’s intersection with LGBTQ+ affirmation. What if one day we didn’t have anything left to say and could just enjoy the sunshine? #NotEqualYet #IWD
Spotlight on... SCM Exeter! A photo of SCM Exeter at their Christmas meal.
I'm Indigo, president of SCM Exeter. SCM Exeter started as a student discussion group with a couple of chaplains in 2018. This morphed into a group which become affilatied with SCM in 2020, and has become more and more student-led. We meet at the Multifaith Chaplaincy Centre on Exeter's Streatham Campus at 7pm on Wednesdays!
We are focused on creating discussion and and a social space of like-minded people from a range of faiths and backgrounds. We do all sorts, but usually a meeting will be based on a theme, sometimes religious (e.g Christianity in the South West, liberation theology), sometimes political (e.g reproductive rights, pacifism), sometimes more generally interrogating aspects of life (e.g faith’s relationship to education or neurodiversity). We also do more communal show-and-tell style sessions, have film nights and socials, or invite guests who relate to our interests or can teach us about other traditions and faiths. We recently had the uni’s Quaker chaplain join us for a session, and in a few weeks the Buddhists are joining us to talk about their faith and interfaith relations.
Our favourite ice breaker is debating the relative merits of different biscuits, and if you joined us in-person we’d likely be having pizza! A favourite session from last year was called ‘They Were Roommates’! Run by ex-president Vic, the session covered the development of queer rights within the Church and the fight for equal marriage. It was simultaneously heavy and inspiring! My favourite thing about SCM Exeter is that it really feels like a friendship group and a safe space; both profound and profoundly silly.
Did you know a big part of SCM's work is supporting student-led communities across the country?! Well, now you do, and you're about to get to know them better! 😍
Welcome to the first "Spotlight on...", featuring the lovely @SCMExeter! ✨
A light pink background with dark pink text. The text reads 'Trans* Day of Visibility 2025'. There is a drawing of a person holding a sign that says 'visibility and joy'. The person has a headband on and a scarf on which are both in the pattern of the transgender pride flag.
For Trans* Day of Visibility, the wonderful Trans* Theology Group are looking for trans*, non-binary, and genderqueer Christians to create a short video focused on the joy of being trans*. With a variety of ways to get involved, we hope to hear from as many people as possible!
Interested in getting involved? On A4 paper, write a short answer to the question ‘what gives you trans* joy?’. You can leave this anonymous, or share some brief identifiers with you answer. For example; Soph, she/they, PhD Student. Take a short 5 second video of the paper. You can be holding it, or you can place it somewhere in your home or outside to film it. Just make sure it is filmed in portrait! Finally, email your clip to transtheologygroup@movement.org.uk by 20th March and let them know that you’re happy with your clip to be shared across SCM’s social media pages.

For Trans* Day of Visibility 2025, the Trans* Theology Group are looking for participants to help them in making a short video to recognise the joy in being trans* and Christian. Want to know more? Swipe to find out!
Is that accounting for vacancies?
It is not about learning to live with different points of view, it is about real human beings who are being daily hurt by the church. When this process started it was with an apology to LGBTQ+ people, where has that compassion gone? #synod
I’m curious about whether progressive folk are contributing to the CNC call for input on the +ABC. Is it something we can make a difference with?
When late to a doodle poll the pressure to pick the most popular date is very strong.

I never met Geoffrey Tattersall, but I feel such sadness at his death. Watching the llf debates online the SCM staff came to adore him, a good and faithful servant with a beautiful lightness of touch which never undermined the seriousness of the debates. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

“Every night without fail, a mobile phone rings in the Holy Family church in Gaza, and a parish priest answers. The voice at the end of the line is that of Pope Francis”.

Image of a winter scene with a woman walking towards houses and a star with the following poem. The Magi’s Blessing When the journey nears its close But your feet fail When the night bites fast and cold When your head hangs too heavy To lift and see the star May those little lights spilling out Over thresholds and onto street Fill your downturned gaze May they light the path before you Paint it with gold While meals to gather friends together Fill the air with fragrant incense Flying high to heaven May kind words like anointing oil flow forth As a blessing on your brow And may joyful voices wrap you warmly Even as they lead you home A. Houmous!
I bought a ruinously expensive new tree stand. It is miraculous. About 5 seconds to put the tree up. (Krinner in case you were wondering)
There is something pretty sickening about MPs receiving a report highlighting medical misogyny on the same day as the Health Secretary chooses to reinforce medical transphobia.

I started a glossary yesterday, it currently has one word on it. I have no idea how to know which words need glossarizing!
