โš”๏ธA New Oath Beginsโš”๏ธ

The era of CasualCap has come to a close.

Today, I take up a new mantle, Knightscap!

I wanted a name that feels a bit more "me" (and as a late night streamer, the pun was too good) I look forward to meeting you all again and I hope you'll help me spread the news! ๐Ÿฆ‹

Pat shared a promotional picture that says in big text that the raid train they organized lasted 7 days, had 39 streamers, and raised $10,139.31. The background image is a mosaic of the profile pictures of all 39 streamers involved.

I organized my 4th Raid Train on Twitch, and our group raised over $10,000 for the ACLU! Astounding! :) Thank you to all who participated in any form - streaming, raiding in, chatting, viewing, lurking, donating, social media-ing - it ALL helps!!

Couldn't be more proud of everyone involved!

An ad done in black and white halftone punk rock styling showing the profile pic of ActorPat (a white male with a shaved head, holding up a peace sign). The letters in the title "Fight For Your Rights" look like they are cut out of magazines. There is a logo of a video game controller with a "resist" fist being held up behind it. The ad is for a charity raid train on Twitch. Pat's timeslot is Saturday, February 21st at 9pm Pacific.

Jesus, this is way worse than I thought - they want to just remove Section 230 entirely, not limit it.

This would make websites legally liable for all user-generated content, which would effectively force most such sites to close down, or require all content to be pre-approved.

Had to have this talk with someone who honestly meant well so just a gentle reminder. Even if it's free it still supports the TERF queen. It still keeps the franchise relevant when we need to let it die to stop her from harming people.

Do Not Download/Use/Read/Steal/Play Any HP media. Let it die.

I think there's really only two types of people. Those who wish others can suffer as much as they may have, and those who wish others can have the same joys and highs that they have.

So, whenever I'm feeling particularly sad... I try to give something joyful away.

Screenshot from Tumblr, user nocryptographer:

I talked with someone who works in book publishing, and they mentioned they get a lot of AI slop these days. I asked how they know what's human-written, and they said that there's one thing that will reveal AI slop without error, and that's the author not knowing their own creation.

A real author can talk about their story for hours. They love to elaborate every character, every twist, every detail. Because those existed in their head long before they ever made it to the paper. They were loved before they were written.

AI slop wasn't. It was just vomited into existence.

Someone who generates their story with AI will never bond with their story the way real writers do. That's why they may not know what to say when they're asked why did the character do this, or even remember the scene in the first place. It's something they read, not something they wrote. And to a writer, those are not the same.

There's a unique bond between the creator and the creation. If your writing doesn't come of you, you'll always lack that.

I keep hearing soon we won't be able to tell. And perhaps, in a superficial sense, that's true. But there is a difference. It's not em dashes or repeated words. It's whether the story was made by someone who loves it and cares about it.

If the writer's eyes light up when asked why did the character do that? and they start their very own Ted Talk about that specific scene...

then it's real.

Seems more promising than "there was an em dash it must be fake!"

And yeah, I might not be able to remember every detail about the stuff I've written, owing to my moth-brained memory, but you risk me launching into a loving 6 hour presentation if you ask me questions about a scene or character.

A "media kit" ad describing Pat's Twitch streaming stats and experience. Pat's profile picture is in the top left, his user name in the top right.

He highlights his October 2025 Twitch stats of ~2.8k Followers, and 30-40 CCV.

Text says: "A chill, chatty streamer with a focus on Final Fantasy, JRPGs, Zeldalikes, & Completionist Runs (140+ Perfect Games on Steam!)

Additional graphics show logos of games he's playing currently, "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Final Fantasy Tactics", and upcoming game "Mina the Hollower".

He then lists logos of companies he's had sponsors/partnerships with, including Square Enix, and shows an image of how much money he raised in his previous charity raid train - over $10k for World Wildlife Fund.

Lastly, he says you can find him on Twitch and socials at "ActorPat".

Anything I miss? Please feel free to share your tips, tricks, and advice!

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

14) Most important for last! - Have fun. :) Yes, there can be problems/drama, yes there can be anxiety and nerves, but ultimately, TwitchCon is about celebrating getting to nerd out with friends about things we love. Enjoy time with your crowd. <3

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 4 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

13) Last but not least, DON'T wait to follow-up w/those you network with, particularly sponsors/businesses. If the game dev or energy drink or whatever thing you like says "reach out and remind us we talked here", do that ASAP, because others will beat you to it otherwise.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 4 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

12) You're gonna be walking a lot, talking a lot, getting a lack of sleep, eating poorly, & possibly drinking. HAVE WATER. And also, conventions can be overwhelming. Don't be afraid to take some time away in a quiet spot to sit down & lower the overstimulation.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

11) For safety, consider only posting pictures/stories to socials AFTER whatever events (or even just after the con entirely), so that people outside your group cannot track what you are doing.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

10) Streamers - have a media kit one-sheet made, like my pinned comment. Have a QR code link to it on your phone/biz cards, so when networking or talking w/ potential sponsors/partnerships you have an easy stat sheet to show them & so you remember what to pitch about yourself.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

9) If you've been a streamer on Twitch for more than a few months, you -probably- already know anything they might teach you at the panels. Panels are enjoyable, but don't get FOMO if you miss any "educational" ones, it's overwhelmingly info you already know. Meetups > Panels.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 4 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

8) There's TONS of parties/events, & numerous opportunities to drink. WATCH YOUR DRINKS. Watch your friends' drinks. Protect each other. Better yet, just don't drink in public and only do so in a safe environment with trusted company (it's cheaper anyway).

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

7) PLEASE respect people's boundaries. Don't assume you can hug, high-five, or get super close to people. Give people space, and if they offer to initiate, then you can reciprocate.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

6) Ideally always have a buddy for safety, but it's ok to break off from a group! If you're super excited for a panel/meetup, but your group is not, GO ANYWAY if missing it will make you upset. Just make sure you have some sort of check-in system so you can keep each other safe.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

5) Those going in groups, make it clear to all that getting separated happens. Miscommunications, huge crowds, surprise situations - things happen! 99% of the time, getting separated is not intentional. Your friend didn't ditch you. Plan how to stay in touch and regroup.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

4) Related to 2&3, streamers owe you absolutely nothing, regardless of how much time or $ you spend on their channel. Hopefully they DO want to interact w/ their community. But you are not entitled to their time, affection, or whatever else. Don't be upset if they don't offer it.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

3) If you're the type to crush on streamers, THEY DON'T WANT TO DATE YOU. TC is not your opportunity to "shoot your shot" or "get senpai to notice me". Please assume that everyone is happily taken & wants nothing but a chill, platonic interaction w/ you (if that).

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

2) Getting to meet someone does NOT mean getting to hang out w/ them. Don't attend TC to try to "hang out" w/a streamer (if not pre-planned w/ them). Assume you'll maybe get to say hey, -maybe- take a pic w/ them, then leave them alone. Don't assume you can tag along w/ them.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

1) Streamers typically don't know who you are. If you say hi to someone at TC, always clearly identify yourself w/ your Twitch username, & don't be upset if their memory falters recalling you while in a new environment w/a face they don't know, & no chat history to look at.

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

TwitchCon PSA (a thread)! TC is a very fun event, but it does have some issues because of the possible parasocial problems that come with the streaming territory. Please keep the following points in mind! (This is more geared towards "viewers" but also fellow streamers.)

12.10.2025 21:46 ๐Ÿ‘ 10 ๐Ÿ” 2 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 3
