You don’t really need a budget to do indie animation, the problem is “indie animation” has been reduced to bigger budget/studio works with insane frame-by-frame animation, a big crew/voice cast and a merch line instead of scrappy shit you make in a week by yourself or with some friends in Flash.

4 pages from the Challengers of the Unknown 1991 limited series: on the first 2 pages, three panels lead to a massive explosion on a mountain. at the bottom, there is a sequence of a robot walking forward, which has been running the entire issue, like a time bomb. on the next two, the explosion ripples like it's tearing into the page itself, as if it was glass, creating dozens of fractured panels, spiraling out in immense white space

on a whim i decided to check out the 1991 Challengers of the Unknown limited series and i gotta say, tim sale does some of his best panelling work ever in this little forgotten title.

i post this like every day but i actually slept so bad last night. kept waking up every few hours for like a minute or two for some reason. woke up enough to remember doing so. cant even blame the cat, she was cutely sleeping on a pillow

o i get it. only those with a single minded mania survive....
