Got any supremely under the radar bands you’ve been championing for ages? Mine’s Tahiti 80 from France…who hasn’t released anything in the US since 2005(?). But whose quality nonetheless still hasn’t dipped! Were I reductive I’d say like a better version of Phoenix!

In the past 48 hours I’ve watched one documentary about Paul McCartney’s 70s and another that laser focused on the Beatles’ 1962. The former was fun but inessential the latter completely unmissable. The gift that ceases to keep gifting.

Picked this one up a few years back in the midst of my 10cc mania/discovery phase. This was one of the early albums recorded at their Strawberry Studios and they served as the backing band. NS (RIP) said “hey you lads are GOOD! You should make yr own records…” and the rest is history.
Tatjana Wood has apparently passed away at age 99. Her father was Jewish so during WW2 her parents sent her to the Netherlands, then NY. She studied as a dressmaker, met/married Wallace Wood and began assisting him, then pivoted to becoming one of the best colorists in comics.
It doesn’t feel *that* long since Will Oldham put out *another* very excellent Bonnie Prince Billy record. Impressive work rate, truly one of our greats.

Something kinda accidentally perfect about these two records getting re-released on the same day as they are…simpatically (made up word?) exemplary specimens of what I’d call respectively first wave and second wave US indie pop.
And they’ve gone and done it! Amazing how many great albums they’ve amassed. Last year’s in fact was true gem, a career highlight!
What a perfect week to finally read the first trade of Absolute Wonder Woman, as this week’s Annual picks up right where its last arc ends. Diana course corrects some Greek Mythology here…and calls out the sometimes distinction bt legend & truth. @kellythompson.bsky.social is a master storyteller!
