Hereโs another.

Mom, wife, professor, archaeologist, writer, reader, (bad)quilter, beekeeper, gardener, professionally interested in zombies, Star Trek, societal collapse, megafauna and jam making. Would still buy a season pass for Jurassic Park.
Hereโs another.
Today at NorCon I met one of the Oslo museum curators.
ME: I am afraid I may have poked a little fun at your museum. But it was with love! I swear!
HIM: (eyes narrowing) The thread about all the shite?
ME: (meekly) โฆyes.
HIM: Oh, we all loved it!

Cannot describe how much I love this
"... to include the names of living people who the government believes should be TREATED AS IF THEY ARE DEAD."
They tried spraying it with a hose, but the water kinda looks like blood soโฆ
Somehow, the future is both going to be a dystopian techno sci-fi hellscape AND we're gonna have coal and measles and robber barons and a permanent underclass.

Good work, Wisconsin!
Excerpt from Rutgers University Senate resolution calling for a Mutual Academic Defense Compact. The excerpt reads: "BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Rutgers University Senate urges the President of Rutgers University to formally propose and help establish a Mutual Academic Defense Compact (MADC) among all members of the Big Ten Academic Alliance; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, under this compact, all participating institutions shall commit meaningful funding to a shared or distributed defense fund. This fund shall be used to provide immediate and strategic support to any member institution under direct political or legal infringement;"
This exciting resolution from Rutgers University Senate is exactly the kind of model I think higher ed needs: a mutual defense pact of, in this case, Big 10 schools. They call for member institutions to create a joint defense fund and make resources available to any member institution under attack.
Zelda Williams (the daughter of the great Robin Williams) sure had a lot to say about the โStudio Ghibli styleโ AI images that have been trending recently.
I think those people should read these posts and really think about what theyโre doing.
Thank you. These โdirty warโ tactics have got to be stopped. Theyโre terrifying, which of course is the point.

Iโm sorry. I have another dear friend whose dad has gone down the aliens conspiracy theory Trump road, and itโs so incredibly frustrating.
It gets worse.
This Signal situation is just the tip of the iceberg of incompetence in this administration.
So that when the midterms come he can refuse to acknowledge a loss on โgroundsโ and throw us further into constitutional crisis with his enablers screaming โbut the EO!โ We need to give I all pretense that they intend to acknowledge the law.
Trumpโs new EO on voting exceeds his powerโelections are conducted by the states. Congress, not Trump, has the power to legislate national standards they have to follow. So why would he do this? Itโs about voter suppression & making it more difficult for people like you & me who oppose him to vote.
I will not be responding to any more Democratic fundraising pleas until I see the party, not just isolated individuals, DO something useful. That is all.
I want to laugh at this but also my mom havenโt gotten her March social security check yet. She has savings to fall back on and wonโt go hungry but thatโs not the case for so many.
Remember when every day didn't feel like an episode of Survivor?
Yikes...but sadly true.
I mean very obviously Hegseth should resign, and if it were a Democratic administration this would be quickly be a consensus position.
In 25 years of covering national security, Iโve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
We are very close to a near cure for two of the highest-mortality cancers we know: glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer. These are both mRNA based treatments which are losing their funding during stage I and II trials. Thousands will die needlessly because of this motherfucker and his lies.

So on March 9, a French scientist, on a visa to attend a conference in Houston, was denied entry to the US and subsequently expelled because his phone had messages decrying scientific policies put forward by the Trump administration: www.lemonde.fr/internationa...
