Excerpt from Rutgers University Senate resolution calling for a Mutual Academic Defense Compact. The excerpt reads: "BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Rutgers University Senate urges the President of Rutgers University to formally propose and help establish a Mutual Academic Defense Compact (MADC) among all members of the Big Ten Academic Alliance; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, under this compact, all participating institutions shall commit meaningful funding to a shared or distributed defense fund. This fund shall be used to provide immediate and strategic support to any member institution under direct political or legal infringement;"

This exciting resolution from Rutgers University Senate is exactly the kind of model I think higher ed needs: a mutual defense pact of, in this case, Big 10 schools. They call for member institutions to create a joint defense fund and make resources available to any member institution under attack.

I think those people should read these posts and really think about what they’re doing.

I’m sorry. I have another dear friend whose dad has gone down the aliens conspiracy theory Trump road, and it’s so incredibly frustrating.

This Signal situation is just the tip of the iceberg of incompetence in this administration.

So that when the midterms come he can refuse to acknowledge a loss on “grounds” and throw us further into constitutional crisis with his enablers screaming “but the EO!” We need to give I all pretense that they intend to acknowledge the law.

Trump’s new EO on voting exceeds his power—elections are conducted by the states. Congress, not Trump, has the power to legislate national standards they have to follow. So why would he do this? It’s about voter suppression & making it more difficult for people like you & me who oppose him to vote.

I will not be responding to any more Democratic fundraising pleas until I see the party, not just isolated individuals, DO something useful. That is all.
