Ida Wells was born enslaved but refused to live in fear. She wielded the power of the press to expose America’s greatest terror—lynching. When the truth made her a target, she didn’t back down. She co-founded the NAACP, fought for Black women’s voting rights, and left a legacy of resistance!

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito spoke to President-elect Donald Trump by phone
Tuesday to recommend one of his former law clerks for a job in the new administration, ABC
News has learned.
"William Levi, one of my former law clerks, asked me to take a call from President-elect Trump regarding his qualifications to serve in a government position," Justice Alito confirmed to ABC News Wednesday. "I agreed to discuss this matter with President-elect Trump, and he called me yesterday afternoon."
The call occurred just hours before Trump's lawyers on Wednesday morning filed an emergency request with the justices asking them to block a New York judge from moving forward with sentencing Trump on Friday in his criminal hush money case.

This awkward call between Trump and Alito appears to be the result of Will Levi, who was AG Bill Barr’s chief of staff, needing a uhh different reference. abcnews.go.com/US/trump-spe...

/2 …to the west, iconic restaurants and buildings on Pacific Coast highway along the beach are gone. In Altadena, an American suburb like any other, regular schools and homes and business are gone. These aren’t “mountain” or “rural.” It’s next door, the place you drive by every day.

Alito said that he and Trump did not discuss that matter.

"We did not discuss the emergency application he filed today, and indeed, I was not even aware at the time of our conversation that such an application would be filed," Alito said. "We also did not discuss any other matter that is pending or might in the future come before the Supreme Court or any past Supreme Court decisions involving the President-elect."

So I am to believe that Trump's top priority right now is filling low-level legal roles in his administration, AND he needed to talk to Alito specifically about this one, AND neither man said ANYTHING else in a private call of which there is no record, got it, great abcnews.go.com/US/trump-spe...

They evacuated Santa Monica which is not some nestled-away-in-the-mountains richie rich enclave. It's a regular ass neighborhood with regular ass people and businesses etc.

It's insane. And there's no end in sight.

Fire hydrants ran dry in Pacific Palisades as a major wildfire raged Janisse Quiñones, CEO of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, said the fight to contain the flames has put immense strain on the system.

Water is becoming a major issue in the Southern California fires.

As crews battled the wildfire in Pacific Palisades, they put so much strain on the water system that the fire hydrants ran dry.

The fires have also fed ash into the water supply, leading to a boil order notice.

This is really damning. NJ State Troopers, unhappy with a report on racial bias incidents, just stopped doing traffic enforcement, and seemingly weren’t on the roads (as evidenced by a vehicle from a fatal hit and run being abandoned for hours before anyone noticed).

The image is a screenshot of a tweet by Jackson Hinkle, which compares Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. It includes side-by-side photos of Zelensky, described as "sweaty, greedy, unshaven, rat-like," and Assad, described as "a gigachad, clean-shaven, wearing top quality suits." The tweet mocks Zelensky's appearance and contrasts it with praise for Assad's attire and demeanor after their respective times of war.

It’s in the air we breathe. And it’s in our homes: our couches, our clothes, even babies’ cribs.

So what can you do to reduce your exposure? THREAD 🧵
