Happy to see this guy on the news so much recently! Tim Walz has always been friend to labor, including when he stopped by our booth at the State Fair last summer to help us in our fight for a fair contract! β

We could never have gotten our first contract ratified without the support of the literary community; thank you to all these authors for speaking up and standing with us. Your support means so much! βπ

Proud to support @hpbunionmn.bsky.social in their fight for fair wages from Half Price Books β Support booksellers!
This seems like a moment to shout out a message of support to the Half-Price Books Union, and to booksellers in general getting a fair shake.
Iβve heard from the unionized workers at Half Price Books, who are fighting for a fair contract from the largest family-owned bookstore chain in America. I stand with @hpbunionmn.bsky.social, because everyone, including the knowledgeable and experienced booksellers at HPB, deserves a living wage.
Are you a reader?
A writer?
Both?
The workers at Half Price Books are organizing for a living wage, and you can send a note of support for the workers to the company here: p2a.co/ua5jyxr

Shoutout to the unionized workers at Half Price Books, the largest family-owned bookstore chain in America, who were recently told at the bargaining table while negotiating their first contract that the company COULD afford to pay them better wages, but they WON'T. @hpbunionmn.bsky.social
BURY YOUR GAYS cover has been released today and theres something TRULY INCREDIBLE about it, something that bends timelines and melts away the edges of the void and brings tears to my eyes. can you see it? let me explain in a thread as you PREORDER NOW...Β tornightfire.com/catalog/bury...
I stand with the union workers of Half Price Books whoβve been trying to negotiate a contract for a year and a half now. Come one, CEO Sharon Anderson, pay your workers a living wage!
I just want to shout out the Minnesotan union of Half Price Book store. They are currently bargaining for a raise in wages. HPB stores is only willing to give them %1 annual raise and that is effing ridiculous when the price of living is so high. tcbmag.com/half-price-b...
My great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all fought Pinkertons or Union-Busters.
As a fourth generation Keene, you're damn right I support HPB Workers Unite in the struggle to get a FAIR wage from Half Price Books.
You can support them too at UFCW.org/HPBpay
Solidarity.
I have a great HPB near me, too. I, too, stand with with HPBWorkersUnite and the local @hpbunionmn.bsky.social
I have always loved shopping at the Half Price Books in Highland Park--their staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and even my picky self finds gems every time. But it's the staff that makes the store, friends. That's why I stand with HPBWorkersUnite and the local
@hpbunionmn.bsky.social .
Booksellers from the Minnesota Half Price Books locations recently unionized and they need more support. Recent negotiations had the company propose a 1% wage increase (equaling a ridiculous $0.15/hr) β let their CEO know this is unacceptable!
Independent bookselling is skilled work and the whole book ecosystem suffers when experienced workers have to leave the field to find a living wage. Booksellers deserve fair pay and Half Price can afford to give it.
Exactly right! We've lost SO many folks because the company likes constant turnover more than living wages and retention of expertise.
As a former bookseller, I can tell you that most of them are ridiculously underpaid. For people that do so much to support literacy, build community, and support authors, they donβt get what theyβre worth. Everybody deserves to make a living wage. I support @hpbunionmn.bsky.social
Unionised workers at Half Price Books, the largest family-owned bookstore chain in America, were recently told while negotiating their first contract that the company COULD afford to pay them better wages, but they WON'T. This isn't good enough. People in every walk of life deserve fair pay.
Thank you for your support! β
Half Price Books workers union is negotiating their first contract and the company will only give them 1% raises, not enough for the cost of living. The company has stated that it can afford to pay higher wages, but it just won't. You can support the workers union here: p2a.co/ua5jyxr
