the new portraits look insanely good, I love them very much! but I think the community could have been fairer with the criticism, I did read some unhinged comments towards the artist that was just giving a somewhat goofy portrait at times
those pump operation skills might have given them a divine right to the throne
my understand is you need to establish contact with them, as it seems don’t already know you exist. If you request tribute from them, it will help them learn you are there, and might encourage caravans (this doesn’t make them hostile to you)
Installed the new Dire Wagons mod for DF to have some spooky fun on the new update, and already ran into shenanigans hehe - an early attack from one led to a dwarf being absolutely LAUNCHED into a local river, and another dwarf literally crushed under its wheels. #dwarffortress
I love trying to figure out what the dwarf fortress beast sickness does - sometimes getting sick in real life it reminds me of the variability of beast sickness. once, a glass titan blinded half my fortress permanently
It is supposed to be a desert tortoise. Still not happy with that front foot.

If you are on a world on the newest update, the new dye overhaul is a really fun system to engage with, setting up specialized stockpiles to create a dyed clothing industry for a certain color. I also find trapping forgotten beasts to be really fun and rewarding
