If you want to keep on the BrontΓ« theme, perhaps Villette? Or for other Victorian/Romantic/Gothic lit vibes, The Woman in White

This is on the save del ray page, it’s mostly Margaret arguing with me and one other pro bike lane guy, the initial post from yesterday about their petition has like 16 likes

Oh it absolutely sucks but at least I only have to drive like once a week max thanks to transit options and walkability ☺️. maybe I should share with Margaret the good news about simply not driving 🀑

somehow it’s the β€œbike activists” who are selfish but she can’t stop talking about her own driveway

Lmao she is also talking to someone whose driveway backs onto Mt Vernon so this is also not the gotcha she thinks it is

Facebook comment from Del Ray Cafe owner Margaret Ticer Janowsky reading: Rebecca Turner when bikes are registered, inspected and taxed and bikers are required to have licenses to ride on the street including safety exams and required safety gear, then let’s talk.
The β€œcity” is nothing more than the collective of its citizens and its goal should be to serve the needs of a majority of them, not a handful of bike activists.
BTW do you have thousands of cars driving past your home daily? Do you have two-way rush hours two times a day that makes your driveway rendered inaccessible?

Governor Spanberger Announces Board Appointments RICHMOND, VAΒ β€” Governor Abigail Spanberger today announced the following board appointments to the Virginia Parole Board, Virginia Commission on Higher Education Board Appointments, and Virginia Racin...

now that I don’t have to work with them professionally anymore - fucking hooray for this, Youngkin’s parole board was absolute trash, and it boggles my mind that he appointed as chair the mastermind behind abolition of the board in the 90s

As someone who walks around a lot with a double stroller and a dog, the Holy Cow/Pork Barrel walk-up window is honestly incredible. If anyone wants to start a coffee/pastry window I WILL invest

Bless you. I thought about it, but everything I drafted was too spicy. I might chime in later if I can rein it in.

Braddock Road Trail Access & Corridor Improvements Project - Design Options A summary of community feedback collected from September 10 to October 5, 2025.

I even double checked the survey questions before I posted this to make sure I wasn’t misremembering- something the author of this email could have easily done as well! www.research.net/results/SM-m...

The short answers are this, there is a working group of residents working on the appeal. They have inquired about the emergency vehicles, all is well was the response. At the TPB meeting, there was an overwhelming presence of residents who are affected by this and they opposed it. The reference may have been related to a city survey taken last year. The surveys usually ask the same questions, such as do you favor bike lanes. Most people would agreed that they are not a bad thing. The survey never asks you if you would be willing to give up your parking for them. They don’t ask you if you want single lanes at the intersections.
