This is fucking annoying. I worked an an interviewer for five years: they do an amazing job in difficult circumstances, gathering the data that government needs to function. There's enough suspicion and mistrust on the doorstep as it is without this bollocks.

One of the things I love about the old languages is the enthusiasm and love among its speakers. Welsh isn't spoken that much in our town but twenty miles west things get poetic.

It's also got the friendliest squirrels in the world in my experience.

You're probably going to do try this, but just in case: I'm a big fan of universities and language societies in this kind of situation. When we made The Sin-Eater we got a killer translation of our Welsh dialogue from Aberystwyth University.

Thank you! I try - I love the sense of inspiration I get from them guess, they are all achievable (apart from L&H of course). I'm working on a sci-fi comedy feature today funnily enough - and when I need a break I'll come back to my ghostly audio drama :-)

- Low-fi sci-fi that does mind-bending things in a fun/accessible way
- Proper ghost stories with just enough jump scares to keep things interesting
- Laurel and Hardy in ANYTHING
- Spy thrillers with tension over spectacle, preferably Cold War

And can you imagine what it's like for those of us who don't have the cachet of fame...those of us who trudge through the trenches of shorts...us 'little' women with big ideas banging our heads against walls as we try & try again...what's the definition of insanity again? Oh yeh, a female director.

Ah OK - how is it going now, do you have more writing time? I found that I could work in short bursts between day-job stuff, but I struggled to stitch them together into something sustained.

Thanks Jenna! For me it was more of a side-effect of taking on a busier job for a year; I started loads of projects but didn't actually write any scripts. How did the re-org work for you?

2025 was a big hiatus, so I'm enjoying just writing again. Just finished the spew draft of a spooky audio drama pilot, and slogging through a micro-budget horror feature about eggs.

Many years ago I was developing a script with a producer, and his notes were incomprehensible to me, until he mentioned John Truby. So I read The Anatomy of Story. It made no difference to how I wrote the story, but our conversations became so much less stressful.
