In case you are wondering, Tim Houston is still blaming Trudeau for things. He is scrambling.
Tim Houston will be holding a presser this afternoon to announce that the arts contained fentanyl.
Not many. Just third reading and then assent, will depend on what tactics the opposition and the government use. The government generally tries to go as quick as possible
CWH is committee of the whole house. Its further discussion on the bill by the MLAs
but also at one point today was this?
i assume this is a callback to when the premier himself quoted Eminem
The band is so good
I want museums full of fossils not fossil fuel extraction
PREMIERβS OFFICE/FINANCE/TREASURY BOARD--$53.6 Million in Grants, Funding Reinstated ------------------------------------------------------ The Province will reinstate $53.6 million in grants and funding to support people with disabilities, seniors and education initiatives for 2026-27. βNova Scotians have spoken. We listened, and we are reinstating supports to disabilities programming, seniors programming and African Nova Scotian and Indigenous students. These are grants that help people meet their basic daily needs,β said Premier Tim Houston. βWe wish we could do more. We will continue to look for opportunities to support all Nova Scotians as our fiscal picture improves.β The government is reinstating $21.4 million in grants to support seniors and people with disabilities, and to help African Nova Scotians and Indigenous people access educational opportunities. Another $10 million will go back to organizations that support those groups. It is also re-establishing $22.2 million in funding to community programs that support seniors, disability groups and the African Nova Scotian and Indigenous communities. The deficit will now stand at $1.24 billion before contingency.
The Houston government has backed down ever so slightly. Notably, cuts to arts grants are not restored:
not the premier continuing to double down on fossil fuels as if its the solution to everything
always exciting to learn something new in parliamentary procedure!
Somehow I imagine if he was offered a sponsorship he would not turn it down
Omg looking at his stuff. So much AI. Working in the arts and having mostly friends in the arts I am more likely to get anti AI posts than AI posts in my bubble that itβs jarring when I leave the bubble and see so much slop
Like I remember in high school being told when using a photo google is not the correct citation
I appreciate the historic context!
The Speaker of the NS House of Assembly Danielle Barkhouse is restricting access to the second floor of Province House "to make sure that we have a safe environment for all MLAs". The new rule comes just a day after cabinet minister Twila Grosse was questioned by a group of unhappy constituents.
Michael Gorman is litterally and figuratively killing it
NS budget shortfalls force Tim Houston to eliminate ocean
We talk about numbers when it comes to the cuts made by the Nova Scotia government, but there are people affected by those numbers.
If you're one of the people losing something β a job, a program, a support service, etc. β please reach out. We'd love to share your story. Email: nmunro@postmedia.com
also what about all the rallies outside of Halifax, Yarmouth, Wolfville, Antigonish, Pictou County, Sydney, Lunenburg, Shelburne, Annapolis Royal, Truro? Did the NDP organize those too?
also the house sits for such long hours during the session, when would a political party have time to organize a protest like that
Question period is always one hour, but supply is a different debate.
Premier Tim Houston calls yesterday's protest by Nova Scotia's arts community a "Raise your taxes" rally "organized by the NDP". From the man who says he listens. Doesn't seem to have heard much yesterday.
I only know where half of Nova Scotia is from going on school tours with plays. to bad the government is cutting that program.
its not. on the arts centre website enter the code CAMP and then tickets will appear
Iβm in Province House for Question Period. The roar of the protesters outside is deafening
