Can't wait to see how they enshittify this.
Finally, something that everyone has been asking for! A shitty version of the Harry Potter ghost paintings, only somehow these are also going steal your data and find a way to trap the spirit of your dead grandma inside Roko's basilisk and then charge a monthly fee to stop torturing her.
I'll say this about Trump, he's going to speed run the greatest hits of pretty much every president from LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush 2, Biden. He's squeezing entire decades into his presidencies.
Most people rejected his message. They hated Freud because he told them the truth.
The rare 'yes' to Betteridge's Law of Headlines.
You can't trust Schumer is serious until he puts on his Horace Grant NBA goggles. Then you know he's ready for battle and his loins are girded.
This is obviously true, but you're not going to win the argument in this economy.
This is my favourite story of the 2020s.
The cool thing about ED-209 is that in our world, tech companies would just put them on the streets even if they kept falling down stairs and wasting Tesla execs during demos. Also, we could just find which South Asian call centre they were being operated from and bribe the gig workers to go rogue.
To be fair, that title is like calling your book 'The Journey' or 'Twilight' or 'The Gift' or 'Home', or 'The Garden'. It's one of those titles that is so universal, it shows up over and over again.
Pretty funny that Mark Carney got props for saying the quiet part out loud but is now saying the loud part again while pretending there is no quiet part.
It's like saying the emperor has no clothes, then stripping naked, hanging dong in public, and bragging about shopping at the same tailor.
Really enjoyed this piece by @will-davies.bsky.social on Trumpian "stupidity", which thrives when judgement is outsourced to financial markets and digital platforms, and makes the panicked 2016 discourse about post-truth politics seem altogether quaint www.nplusonemag.com/issue-51/pol...
I'll send you a free copy of my self published book on the Cultural Anthropology of the English 1997-2026. Think the publisher is going with 'Bin men & The Blitz: Navigating Managed Decline and the subtleties of being a proper Englishman in the Post Empire.'
The most important word to learn is 'proper' which is a light fascist-nostalgic word; it implies things were better in an imagined past. Has something to do with your 65 year old grandpa fighting in the Blitz but also that only some things are really British, other things are suspiciously foreign.
Don't forget that sometimes people have a mini lunch-brunch meal they call having their piece. Also, and I cannot stress this enough, while some of this is geographical, it is also a form of social signalling. So saying supper around a family that says tea will lead to bafflement and frustration.
If only it were even that simple.... Sometimes Tea means tea, sometimes it means a silly mini meal with sandwiches, sometimes it means the meal in the evening, but only in some places and some households. Sometimes they say dinner, which is sometimes different than supper but nobody can agree why.
Feel like it's time we all got back into sailing. Good opportunity for the Brits to make a comeback.

Let's not rehash this. You're acting like someone with a very specific kink who keeps wanting to talk about it in public.
Food situation is about to get really good.
Even Mr Bean accidentally bumbles through the correct door eventually even if his trousers are around his ankles and he has a turkey stuck on his head.
Just for posterity I need to go on record saying that I do believe some version of the above narrative. Not saying this to start an argument, only that I don't want social media archaeologists getting the wrong idea about my beliefs.
To honest though, in case I've wandered to the wrong side of Bluesky, I am deeply skeptical of both the effectiveness and motivations of the Democratic party higher ups.
Feels like a bad combo:
1. These people seem to care only about the accumulation of power by any means.
2. Power corrupts.
3. Being a billionaire probably selects for psychos.
4. Being rich makes your crazier as you end up in a sycophancy bubble.
5. These people invented and are addicted to LLMs.
It's not a tell in that the person is an 'op' or faking it, they just don't know. Or more accurately the DNC has become shorthand for the nebulous reasons that Dems don't seem to represent politics of people to the left of a Newsom. Think 'DNC' is sort of like saying deep state or 'the man'.
Oh yeah, it's always more than just collecting a pay check. It's culture, expectations, norms, narratives we tell ourselves etc. Very much how these things perpetuate themselves.
This is great posting because I don't even know what point he's trying to make.
I guess my first question is what kind of hourly rate am I getting in this human pet gig? Do I need to download a new app, or is it already built into uber?
