Enguany hem realitzat una nova campanya d'excavacions a la Cova Fonda. Es tracta d'un jaciment que ens està donant moltes alegries i que ens permetrà aprofundir molt en la transició entre el Pleistocè i l'Holocè.

#CovetadelaFoia (Vilafranca, Castelló) sheds light on early Sauveterroid occupations in the Iberian Mediterranean. The study highlights lithic tech, fauna, and spatial data, confirming an early chronology for this rare post-Pleistocene tradition.

Despite having easy access to raw materials, they technically choose to make small weapons, showing how culture conditions technology. In the Coveta de la Foia one of the oldest occupations of this period in the Iberian Peninsula is documented, with one of the first samples of geometric microliths.

We conclude that there is a double strategy in lithic production: on the one hand, a standardized manufacture of small microliths for hunting, on the other, varied domestic tools and on less standardized supports.

We have published a paper about one of the iconic sites of Levantine art, La Joquera (Borriol). With digital techniques we have made a 3D model and have been able to discover elements such as weapons and some ornaments of the human figure. #rockart #prehistory
