Cycle theft isn’t impossible to fix – other countries are doing far better than us on beating the thieves 🚔️
It just takes political will - show you want action by signing our petition: bit.ly/4bRyUXr
The annual social cost of urban road noise in England is £7-£10 billion & the WHO identified environmental noise as the second largest environmental health risk in Western Europe. LTNs & 20mph speed limits can massively improve this.
Having had to visit Bromley the other day, I can well believe it. What they need though is LTNs.

Great video — but the real issue is driver culture. Why rush past a cyclist only to sit at the next red light, where they catch up anyway? Adding real risk for only a few seconds — or often zero gain. We wouldn’t barge ahead in a normal queue, so why do it behind the wheel?

🚨 Following cycle theft, 15% of people stop cycling altogether – thousands of Londoners robbed of the chance to ride into work, or to school with their children.
🚲 If London is to become a world class cycling city, theft must be taken seriously – sign our petition to demand action: bit.ly/4bRyUXr
Good morning, nearly everyone!
“You have a car lobby who are hiding behind buses and ambulances. It’s an easy thing to hide behind but what’s behind the ambulance? It’s a Range Rover.”
Where this article fails is in reporting Fleur’s fictitious claims about ‘impacts on Putney’ unchallenged

View of the Beeline foot and cycle paths, showing many "closed" signs and barriers across the pedestrian side of the path.
@kingstoncycling.bsky.social It's been 3 months now. The Beeline between N Malden & Elm Rd is still a bizarre forest of signs, the footpath side is basically usable but still closed. Any indication what the plan is from Kingston Council?
VOTE NOW: Merton Legacy Fund - We suggest you vote for Option A, which includes "Cycle lanes (Borough-wide)" !
mertonlegacyfund.commonplace.is
Scheme previously had planning permission which lapsed due to the Council sitting on the scheme for ages, suggesting it should get through planning again. (This illustrates why the institutional procrastination and flip-floppery Merton is so prone to is horribly inefficient. Do, or don't do.).
Westminster's Bayswater Rd scheme would deliver a safer continuous cycling connection linking Cycleways 3 and 27, as well as providing a direct east–west route along the north side of Hyde Park.

Done. Get a 🍵 - it will take 10 minutes. Just 10 minutes to make cycling safer for children, women, unconfident or returner riders. Everyone in fact.
Congestion costs £7.5bn a year and c.£17bn is needed to fix the worn out road network. In the last 30 years, the UK population has grown by 19%, but the number of cars has exploded by 56%. Outside of London, 81% of British households own at least one car!

New research, undertaken using methodology developed by Sheffield Hallam University, State of Life, and Manchester Met University, finds the government's £15m ‘Places to Ride’ programme has delivered over £100m in ‘social value’ across the UK, while saving the NHS over £13m.

The school run is the #1 source of school carbon emissions, outweighing heating and electricity, according to a new report from Eco Schools and @keepbritaintidy.bsky.social 💨🌿
Walking and wheeling to school reduces pollution and cuts down on chaos at the school gates - it's a win-win!
Reported this on FixMyStreet. They replied saying it's already been cleared. I went by to check and it hasn't. There are at least 5 patches of broken glass in the centre of the road. Quit gaslighting us!!
The Court of Appeal's judgement stopping Tower Hamlets from ripping out safety infrastructure is good news for Londoners.
It's good for road safety & reducing danger. It's good for air quality, good for health, and good for communities across the capital.

⚠️ 🚴♀️ Known once as the most dangerous bridge for cycling in London, Lambeth Bridge has undergone a major redesign over the last year, but is it any safer to cycle over?
We went down on Monday morning to check it out and see just what's changed... 👀
A Department for Transport Facebook Post: "Department for Transport is with British Cycling. · Follow A record £7.3 billion of investment in road maintenance is helping to ensure that more cyclists across the country can have that smooth ride feeling In addition, the Department for Transport (DfT) have launched a Red, Amber, Green rating system, so you can see how well your local highway authority is fixing your local roads. 🟢 Green = best practice, long-term preventative plans 🟠 Amber = on the way, but room to improve 🔴 Red = support in place to raise standards See how well your local authority is doing by checking the link in DfTs bio."
I see the DfT is back to its usual tricks of claiming nice carriageways are good for cyclists.* And with with British Cycling enabling them.
*Yes, I know who campaigned for better roads back in the day. A smooth A-road is still not suitable for most people to feel safe being there.

Broken glass on Melbourne Rd, centrally, at frequent (10m) intervals. Looks deliberate. Take care!
Keep Hammersmith Bridge car-free ⛔🚲
There have been rumblings of a move to allow cars back on Hammersmith Bridge, (a terrible idea) - so we need to remind folks just how much support there is to keep it car-free!
👋 Come down to the bridge on Saturday and show support: bit.ly/4b9o6DR
I do like this little scheme on Bayley St - just off Tottenham Court Rd.
This was a signal controlled junction from a one-way street, contraflow cycling was added & then the junction filtered with a cycle track.
Now it's a bike lane & a new public space with SuDS. 🚲☔️☘️💚

Strange how the anti-cycle lane bus huggers never mention how often London's buses are delayed and diverted by badly parked and crashed cars
Driving is a privilege, earned through assessment and retained via acceptable standards.
Why should such people ever be allowed to lawfully drive again and share the road with victims?
We would never return a firearms licence to someone who unlawfully used a gun to kill. Why is driving different?
📣 Parents. If cars make your walk or cycle to school feel unsafe, that's not okay.
Take action!
📷 We need your photos of the school run. The more people see how unsafe and unhealthy it is for our children - the more power we have.
DM your #schoolrun photos or tag us in a post. #streetsforkids
More of London's roads will have safer speed limits because there's irrefutable evidence it save lives:
📉 25% fewer main road collisions
📉 34% fewer people killed or serious injured on local roads
📉75% fall in children killed on local roads
