TRIAL BY JURY
A constituent in #ExmouthandExeterEast has shared with us today their concern about scrapping trial by jury.
They're delighted that the @libdems.org.uk are against this Labour proposal.
Today, I spoke in the Commons about the Government's concerning plans to restrict the ancient right of trial by jury.
Whilst we all recognise the issue of court backlogs, scrapping jury trials would not fix this, and would be a dangerous step in the wrong direction.

Residents are annoyed that Labour tried to cancel their planned local elections. They were grateful for the Lib Dems for their active campaign in making sure they took place.
Residents said they were being denied a voice.

The Lib Dems are calling for age-rating to ban harmful social media for under 16s & ensure platforms hosting extreme content are rated 18+. Educational websites & family messaging services would be allowed, not caught up in a blanket ban.

The Tories and Reform are backing Trump as his illegal war deepens conflict and pushes up energy bills for British families.
This week Parliament debated the Representation of the People Bill. While there are positive elements to it, frankly, it does nowhere near enough to deal with overseas interference in our democracy, to reform our terrible voting system, or to reform the House of Lords into a worthy second chamber.

A state visit from our King would be seen as yet another huge diplomatic coup for President Trump, so it should not be given to someone who repeatedly insults and damages our country.
By electing a Liberal Democrats MP or councillor, you'll have someone committed to serving their constituents and representing them in parliament or in the council chamber.
