There are lots of folks more qualified to answer this question, but I think book bans, the erosion of rights for LGBTQIA folks, shenanigans by financial processing companies & an extremely small number of big publishers can make it astonishingly quick for support to vanish.

I love romance novels, so I get some publisher newsletters about upcoming titles. Seeing queer books just vanish from these in the past 6 months is so enraging/depressing. We know queer books can sell; please publish and promote them!

This book is dedicated to the fond memory of the late _______. She was an ideal wife to a man totally dedicated to research. This left her husband all the time and leisure to pursue his research. In spite of being just a matriculate, she understood the value of her husband's work; even though financially it was not rewarding, she encouraged him in his labor of love. It is her understanding of the man that has let this book be a reality.
