As we witness the horror of attacks on desalination plants, we need to be aware, on a warming planet, conflict over water, using water as a weapon of war, & targeting people seeking water is on the rise
- in the past 4 years, it's nearly doubled:

You only have a short time to comment. They are trying to destroy our forests to enrich a few logging company executives and the politicians theyβve paid off.

TMC USA is bypassing international rules to fast-track exploitation, disregarding the voices of Pacific nations. The ocean is a common heritage, not a corporate commodity. Stand with Indigenous leaders and speak up against deep -sea mining.

After months of relentless rapid response in Minneapolis, members of Defend the 612 had a moment to breathe and reflect on the lessons theyβve learned, the grief they carry, and the citywide fellowship they hope will endure. The crisis is not over, and Iβm grateful they made time to speak with me.
There people on the left and right who will tell you this is only an issue for elites. Those people are insane. The obscenely unequal power of the rich is what caused this emergency. Iβll never cede βpreventing mass deathβ as a cause of the mass left.
We're trialling something new this year at the BSBI - an activity designed to support absolute beginner botanists with identifying *and* recording their first ever 100 plants in 2026 πΏ

if you care about the environment and feel frustrated by the lack of progress, itβs not you, itβs corporate capture
Most plastics, chemicals, artificial fertilisers, pesticides & synthetic fabrics are made from fossil fuels & they emit pollution throughout their life cycle, from extraction to processing to use & disposal. Fossil fuels give birth to so many major pollution sources.
Forever chemicals are so long-lasting + difficult to remove that very high levels can mean some water just is no longer usable as a drinking water source. With so much pressure on water resources, we cannot afford to let PFAS pollution build.

"The results also indicate that current #climate models underestimate the magnitude of the observed changes. This is caused most likely by a too simplistic representation of deep mixing processes in the ocean in numerical models"

Read this from Ben Santer (very famous climate scientist for those who donβt know) about what NCAR means and what dismantling it will do.
It's not just Houston! If you're curious about YOUR neck of the woods, check out deflock.me for some horrifying, local results...

Great, awful stuff, as always, from #WatershedInvestigations
I'm assisting with sample gathering tomorrow for microplastics at my city's local drinking-water reservoir and, ngl, I'm terrified at what the results might show. I'll share the findings once they're published this spring...
