night ๐
Home from conference, watching Mr Nobody Against Putin - I think Lila (Lilushka?) is happy someone's at home again.
Me visiting DeeDee at her booth several times a day like
For people who are always insulting women who don't have babies and/or always fretting about how women in general "aren't having enough babies", a lot of right-wingers are weirdly hostile about seeing a woman out-and-about with a baby.
deedee
I made sure DeeDee was the first person I greeted this morning. She is so important to me (NB i have known her less than 24 hours)
I brought three cat-themed outfits to this two day conference.
I also met a perfect dog named DeeDee but I think I have to "network" and "be here as a representative for my organisation" at the dinner instead of sitting with her :(
i don't known what this expression means
I like how people are like "but his MOTHER (sister?) IS A BALLERINA" like... okay? I'm sure she's heard him say this before lol
me packing for a one night conference: but i must have a spare outfit for my spare outfit what if i spill sixteen jars of jam on myself or fall into a swamp, i'd feel really foolish for not taking the extra dress
my lifeguard while i'm trying to have a bath, doing a safety inspection of the room
then again i got VERY upset about the dog while watching that movie and am i strong enough to put myself through that again
ngl all this stupid ballet/opera drama has made me want to re-watch Marty Supreme. curse needing to pack for my conference and fall asleep at a reasonable hour to get up at 5am tomorrow.
celebs*
curse my stubby thumbs
very "i can forgive snl and others harrassing a working class non-actor with a neurological condition but i draw the line at timothee chalamet being disrespectful about ballet"
I'm a hypocrite because I dislike "you're talking about this? well WHAT ABOUT THIS OTHER HORRIFIC THING" type arguments but it's weird how so many hollywood celes apparently care SO much about ballet and opera but didn't wade in when everyone was bullying a man with tourettes
Worship her please
yes i know i am spamming with too many posts about silly fantasy stuff you don't care about but that's what happens when the northern line is severely delayed, take it up with tfl
"Would you like the power to chat with cats and become best friends with wolves or would you like the power to telepathically communicate with annoying people and then get a massive headache after?" "Uh..."
The nobility in the Yatagarasu novels looking down on the (objectively awesome) ability to transform into a bird is just like in Robin Hobb where everyone looks down on the (objectively awesome) ability to communicate with animals while hyping up the Migraine Psychic ability.
and i need to get my hands on the manga adaptation because it looks gorgeous
anyway these books are great and need to be published in english asapppp
mostly a great bunch of lads
(......so far)
(i'm dumb and read slowly ok)
there are a million trillion books in the series focusing on different povs etc* so i know it won't be the case that everyone in the east house is awful etc. but it was a great bait and switch in book 1.
*like how north house in book 1 seemed intense and scary but the northerners in book 2 are
As well as the asebi-centric POV, i think abe also definitely relied on the trope of the spring-coded/cherry blossom themed house/characters in a lot of japanese fiction automatically being the "best" ones to trick the readers... right? like "ugh of course he'll pick spring"
SHE WARNED US ALL
hamayuu (? or shiratama? i can't remember which) at the start of the book: lol everyone knows u east house people are all backstabbing bitches.
me: oh my god u regina GEORGE.
me at the end of the book:
still can't stop thinking about that bait and switch chisato abe pulled at the end of the first book with asebi that totally recontextualises everything (and my friend ellen - who had already read the book - being amazing at not spoiling me at all)
back on my usual shit (making stupidly niche memes only i will find funny)
a busy period at work and two weekends of work events/trips in a row is really interfering with my heart's true priorities (curling up in a duvet nest in my bed mainlining the yatagarasu series novels like heroin)
