We’ve already seen the system bypassed with stolen and fake IDs, and even the faces of video game characters.
There are minors with adult verification out there. And if one part of the system is compromised, it’s all compromised. You can’t un-pop the balloon.
Parents, please pay attention.
Your kids are YOUR responsibility, nobody else’s. It’s up to you to keep them away from adult spaces, these measures are dystopian and also proven to be ineffective at protecting them.
We shouldn’t have to dismantle the internet to compensate for your bad parenting.

But seriously, people need to be angry about this. Disclosing your own data is one thing, but turning yourself into a walking surveillance tower and scanning other people is something else.
I really don’t understand why tech billionaires think it’s a good idea to invest in “AI wearables”.
These things have till the public realises that it’s basically the equivalent of some passing stranger snapping nonconsenting photos of you and your family, at which point the beatings will commence.

Exactly this, Discords fate was sealed when they became publically traded. Investors want YOY growth to justify their investment, a company can make billions of dollars in profit but if it’s not more profit than the last financial year it will be regarded as a failure.

A growing number of games allow their anticheats to run in more limited modes for Linux compatibility, Helldivers 2 for example. For some anticheats it’s a simple setting devs can enable.
The solution is to not financially support companies that don’t respect your choices as a customer.
I guessed even before looking up the incident that it was some foreign tourist. It's tragic, but why aren't we investigating how so many of these tourists keep ending up in harms way?
Also, it bothers me that the majority of comments I've found on this issue are just whining about the island name.

I have a laptop that has to be plugged into an Ethernet cable when installing Windows, because it doesn’t come with a compatible driver for the wifi card.
Meanwhile, if I install pretty much any version of Linux it works out of the box.
Guess I'll post here, then.
I'm not much for social media but maybe it's a good idea to have something I can use outside of Discord, and I lack a convenient ten-foot pole for interacting with Twitter.
