New year, new gear.
Every year, in January, I treat myself with a new guitar. This year's pick is an Ibanez IC420FM, a.k.a Iceman.
The Proton annual fundraiser is over, with a new record: more than one million dollars will be awarded to privacy-focused non-profit organizations.
In September, I visited the Musée Bolo on the EPFL campus in Lausanne (roughly 10 minutes from place). They have a great collection of old computers gathered in a hall. Access is fully free (donations are welcome).

I've been eyeing on the KEF LS50 since their introduction in 2012. Earlier this year, I finally decided to buy a pair of active LS50 Wireless II. They sound fantastic.
I paired them with a Kube 10 MIE subwoofer to add the subtle amount of bass they lack.

I'm focusing on tech this year, but there are obviously many other causes that need help.
Mozilla's new focus on ads and AI is unacceptable, and Firefox does not have a built-in ad-blocker on iOS/iPadOS (extensions are not allowed there).
I'm done with Safari. Extensions are limited, security key support is broken…
I've switched to @vivaldibrowser.bsky.social, which has multi-platform sync (when servers work), and a built-in ad-blocker. And it supports Chrome extensions on desktop (I only need my password manager).

When switching email provider:
1. Get a custom domain, and opt for an email service that supports it. You won't have to change your email address if your provider dies.
2. Check that your new provider is not a VC-funded startup that will sell itself to the first bidder.
Privacy-focused email service Skiff just got acquired by Notion, and the service will shutdown after 6 months. Announced on a Friday afternoon, and reddit sub is locked.
