St Patrick’s Day is Ireland’s national day. It marks the feast of our patron saint and celebrates Irish history, Irish music and Irish culture. Everyone is welcome to celebrate with us. Ireland has always been welcoming. But the day should remain about Ireland. Turning St Patrick’s Day into a global “celebrate every culture” festival misses the point. Every nation deserves one day each year that honours its own heritage. Ireland deserves the same.

Park Run update : pace dropped to 39 minutes today on a very hilly and exposed course in county Meath… back to the flat Limerick run next week

I ran a very hilly parkrun today 39 minutes - after running a 36.35 on a more civilised course last week

This weeks park run - The university of Limerick, beautiful setting, another slight improvement. Afterwards a leisurely breakfast and coffee that went down very nicely

Their worlds were so beautifully intimate. They knew everyone in the parish and all the backstories, and in a way I find that both funny & endearing. For me I’ve lived in different places and moved through so many circles, it’s just not the same closeness. Different generations, different worlds.

This made me laugh, both my parents passed prior to RIP.IE. For them they were glued to Live 95 fm every morning listening to the obituaries. Had they been around for RIP. IE I’ve no doubt they would’ve been hooked. I so miss them
