New Research Details 'Human and Economic Toll' of US Abortion Bans | Common Dreams A Monday report from the Center for Reproductive Rights features various profiles demonstrating "the human and economic toll" of US abortion bans.

"The Price of Safety: Stories of Abortions Denied, Careers Disrupted, and States Left Behind" details the human and economic toll of abortion bans. The anthology uses stories from patients, doctors, business leaders, and others to show the real-world consequences of abortion bans.

Chris Murphy: "I Just came from a two hour, closed door classified briefing on the war. It just confirmed to me it's totally incoherent. We are not gonna be able to achieve any of our stated objectives ... this is a disaster of epic proportions, a 10 day debacle"

If Trump Supporters Turn on Him, It Won't Be Empathy, It Will Be Selfishness Recently, I was on a Zoom call with some of my Substack subscribers.

When MAGA Americans finally realize that they, too, are victims of the criminality and predation they initially hoped would only be for those despised others (the immigrant, gay, brown, black, woke, and blue staters), then it will be a bridge too far.

“An organization like FAFO could allow prosecutors to trade research on novel legal theories designed to head off immunity arguments, share recommendations for expert witnesses, and even help strategize on how to sue the federal government to access evidence or get a case back into state court. It could facilitate collaboration between prosecutors in neighboring counties both subjected to CBP and ICE deployments, or between a local DA and their state AG. “A lot of what we’re looking at has not been tried yet in the court system,” Conover said. “Rather than each one of us facing something, God forbid, like Minneapolis and finding ourselves having to invent the wheel, we can do it together.””

Struck by this quote from Tuscon’s local prosecutor on why she joined a nationwide group discussing how to prosecute federal agents

America always howling about nuclear threats, is the only country to ever drop a nuke on anyone…two actually.
And now a dementia ridden, terminally ill narcissist with raging sadism who will happily burn the world down before he dies has started a fckn war and has the nuclear codes.

Congress: 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♀️

Alabama set to execute man who did not kill anyone Unless Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey intervenes, Charles “Sonny” Burton, 75, will be executed Thursday. He is among thousands in America convicted under a controversial felony murder law.

Sonny Burton is set to be executed by the state of Alabama on Thursday. There is a direct line between a government that murders its own citizens and the devaluing of life abroad. The sin has always started at home.

A lot of us veterans are not ok right now.

Do not EVER ask a veteran if they killed someone.

Do not ask us if we wish we could go fight again.

No human should experience war. Period.

It's impossible to tell the Selma and Bloody Sunday story if you erase Jimmie Lee Jackson.

It's literally sanitizing the story.

There's also the story of Amelia Boynton. Famously photographed beaten unconscious.

She would reprise her Selma March with President Obama at the age of 109

one thing that ppl extremely miss in this whole debacle is that trans issues were largely not legislated until super recently. obama's second administration implemented new federal pro-trans policies, some states followed, and then the reactionaries started legally banning everything

Jonathan Greenblatt is upset that people are calling AIPAC un-American. But as I pointed out on Twitter, AIPAC has supported dozens of Republicans who voted against certifying Biden’s victory after the January 6 storming of the Capitol. That is un-American behavior. Does ADL disagree?

Palestinian solidarity in Britain ‘being silenced and criminalised’ ‘Index of repression’ includes smears, harassment, job losses and arrests, legal advocacy group says

The Guardian played a leading part in amplifying the rhetoric of anti-Arab racists so that anti-Arab racists could take over Labour, get into government, and support ethnic cleansing and a genocide of Arabs. And then criminalise opponents of anti-Arab racism.

The killing of Iranian children during an illegal war is an impeachable offense (not to mention a grave crime) and Congress should really act like it.

15 Republicans in the Senate could end this nightmare before it somehow gets even worse.

So far the war in Iran has cost an estimated $5.5 billion.

That's roughly $1 billion per day.

$41,666,667 per hour.

$11,574 per second.

People do not want this.

They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

CNN's Dana Bash reports on a convo she just had with Trump: "He said there are now five things in this SAVE America Act that he wants the House and Senate to pass. He said, 'No mail in ballots, no men in women's sports, and no transgender operations for youth.' He added those two."

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countries—including the United States.

This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

Most of the media is demanding that everybody supports the war effort. Well, sod that. This is an illegal conflict, launched by a decrepit American to distract from his domestic problems, which has already killed hundreds of women and children. I didn’t back the Iraq war in 2003. Nor this one!

This is insane. Two people buying the same item in the same grocery store should pay the same price.

Instead, companies want to use our personal data to decide how much we personally should be charged.

That’s straight out of Orwell. And it shouldn’t be allowed.

I continue to be gobsmacked at 1) how common this formulation is 2) how antisemitic and generally bigoted it is 3) and how for all the talk of anti-semitism this is never cited as an example even though it’s quite literally the original incarnation.

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone.

But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.

The video of a United States Senator joining the violent removal of U.S. marine from a hearing and hideously breaking his arm in a door is an example of what has been unleashed in this country. They’re tapping in to get in on the violence.
And then he bragged about it on X later.
