Her vote aside, among white people across the political spectrum, it IS taboo to talk openly about their politics.
This is a grift designed to maintain white supremacy across political divide. To keep them communing along whiteness with their enemies & ideological opponents.

THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!
yes! in fact, i started making a list of these kinds of moments, scenes and encounters to help myself figure out how they've shaped and influenced me. this is important stuff, personal foundational texts
love hearing about other people's kindertrauma so i'm making a note of these. anime just wasn't that big here for most of my childhood, so i don't really know these. but funnily enough, i do have a kindertrauma anime that i've not been able to identify for like 3 decades now

Over at @letterboxd.social Journal, I wrote about the legacy of Donna Deitch’s trailblazing sapphic western romance DESERT HEARTS for its 40th anniversary. This movie is so dear to me. This was an absolute honor to research and write.

Fifty years after Tobe Hooper’s TCM shocked the world and forever changed the face of global cinema and popular culture, CHAIN REACTIONS charts the film’s profound impact and lasting influence.

For my contribution to #WomenWritersWeek at @ebertvoices.bsky.social I wrote a look back at the film industry 100 years ago – the arrival of synced sound, the death of Valentino, Gilbert and Garbo, and more – and what we might be able to glean from its storied history.

Today in Staatsräson.
Can't help but feel a certain Schadenfreude for all the opportunists & cowards who for years stood by as Palestinians and anti-genocide voices were being cleansed from the German cultural landscape.
Your literary & film culture is over, suckers!
dobro da si mi rekla, nisam primjetila drugi post. ja fino ponovila, a ovaj cu pobrisat
i understand this term, like any other, can have nuanced if not disparate meanings and applications but it's always strange to hear it in reference to situations that bear little to no resemblance to the breakdown of yugoslavia. this might not be a big deal to anyone but makes us uneasy
this is definitely on me for not properly looking at the settings, especially after updates and on desktop so i'm sure there're workarounds out there. it's so frustrating how stuff is connected and sneaked in. i don't understand what many settings even do from their phrasing lol such a tech rube
