Thinking of this book recently. First read it in Professor Patai’s class in the early 80s. Have never forgotten it.

Quick comment on the brilliance of the title alone, which I find endlessly hilarious. A lesser author would have titled the book “The Black Box of Doom” or “Abbott and the Black Box of Doom.” A person “starting to worry” about something obviously worrisome is intriguing.

It goes well with Edward’s Deming, “Every system is perfectly designed to get the results it gets.” How does the entire system need to change so that the results change? How will this affect every component or participant in that system?
