its the assertion of the show as straight, but nonjudgemental. the association of lgbt experiences as wholly restricted to romance and sex. the return to status quo after a brief gay foray like a vacation. its somewhat performative, but a sign that shows were expected to be performative at least
theres an odd thing in serialized tv, with episodic structure where each ep is essentislly monster/case of the week and the main protagonists are straight. and its the reoccurance of two straight characters looking onwards while someone comes out to hint at their own future romance
