It's an interesting question to ask creatives. It shows that there's a route for us all to make art! What number are you, Brian?

#1. I've only recently realised I don't see anything when I close my eyes. I imagine concepts or memories as ideas rather than images. I can draw what I'm looking at quite easily. But when I draw something from my imagination I have to construct it slowly, from a crude sketch to a finished image.

Publishers aren’t just looking for beautiful illustrations; they want artists who can bring stories to life in a way that resonates with young readers, and know HOW to create publishing specific artwork.

I'm not too sure either! Conferences sound like a good idea — perhaps being around real people is the way forward with AI threats on the horizon. I might try to create some free activity packs for download from my website next month. Maybe that would help get on more book buyer radars... Maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'll try to get the ball rolling... I emailed 10 local schools promoting my children's book events. And I replied to one of @brianlarossa.com 's open callouts.

I'm quite lax at self-promotion. I want to improve, without relying exclusively on social media campaigns. So, I'm going to start a monthly #self-promotion thread to a) get inspiration from the community and b) encourage accountability.
