They're bad, some great journalists in some brands but politically The Post and Stuff is pretty damn poor if not suspect #Stuffisstuffed

inflation risk, unemployment & biz failure records etc, but all this Coalition want to do is play dirty politics & lies on 5 year old Covid pandemic response that 2 Royal Commissions now agree was world class

An unserious govt

And it's literally a drop in the ocean compares to the near 400 billion of private debt....but apparently that's just fine.

Who doesn't the Government owe this "debt" to anyway?

Wow we have The Post leading with headlines about a "Please explain" to Labour for Auckland lockdowns - but turns out our response wasn't only world class, the Auckland lockdown was only FOUR days longer than recommended

Stuff is corporate media crap and it shows. #nzpol #newzealand

National lamenting $60 billion Covid spend while they are on track to borrow $120 billion with no pandemic.

Labour saved 20,000 lives.

National are saving landlords and tobacco

1News hosting Viv Beck to cry about Auckland during lockdown is pretty rich. The same woman who is celebrating arresting homeless people might as well be Brooke Van Velden.

Kind of ridiculous having to talk about it, but if anything it showed Labour prioritised what they said they would - lives, health and economy. Oh well.

Early advice from the Minister for COVID-19 Response to Cabinet was that
a strong health response was the best economic response. This was repeated
in the Cabinet papers of 20, 23, 27 and 30 August, and 6 September. The
20 August 2021 paper set out the evidence officials considered supported
that advice.
Β° New Zealand’s infection and death rates were among the lowest in
the world.
Β° New Zealand’s unemployment rate was at the pre-COVID level of
4 percent, because jobs and businesses had been protected with the
wage subsidy. Unemployment in New Zealand peaked at 5.3 percent
(whereas in the United States and Canada it rose above 10 percent).
Β° Economic activity in the March 2021 quarter was 2.4 percent above the
previous year.
Β° The Government was in a β€˜strong financial position’ – net core Crown debt
stood at 31.2 percent of GDP at the end of May 2021, 8.8 percent lower
than the forecast 44 percent (a difference of approximately $40 billion).
β€˜This gives us options to keep investing to protect New Zealanders and
accelerate our recovery’

So Chris Hipkins not only took advice & kept the economy afloat and jobs and businesses alive through #Covid-19, he pushed to keep Kiwis healthy and alive at a time when corpses were piled up across Italy, UK, US, and India.

Kudos @chrishipkins.bsky.social #nzpol #newzealand

From the report: "β€œIt is clear ministers & official were facing a series of complex, high-stakes decisions in a rapidly changing environment & were doing the best they could at the time. Evidence shows NZ had among one of the best pandemic responses in the world.”"

So 2 Covid-19 Royal Commissions now find Labour did an excellent job & led NZ to one of the best outcomes globally. The report also vindicates the economics. If $30 billion was spent on schools, infrastructure etc that's amazing and supportive.
National are borrowing $120 billion w/o a pandemic

Unlike Tucker Carlson, Ryan Bridge hilariously still claims he's not a conservative. So he's actually less honest than that charlatan.

Inflation was 4% two years ago, PM. And we now have record 10 year unemployment & business failures, while ~3% of our working age citizens have fled

We shouldn't have to fact check our own governments like the US does, do we? #auspol #newzealand #nzpol

Dirty politics gang are pre-viewing the 2nd #NZ #Covid inquiry is going to damage Chris Hipkins so let's not let them forget how it really went down

Carl Bates MP for Whanganui praises himself with a fake account

Chatter from the other place says Chris Penk and Joseph Mooney are using sock puppet accounts.

Wouldn't be the first National Party MP to use a fake account on social media would it?

These National Party NZ politicians are so pathetic, don't they have real work to do?

I am expected as an elected member to respond nicely and help efficiently people who are rude to me, include attacks on council staff in their messages, make up stuff about me on FB, but if a homeless person simply exists on the street that's anti-social behaviour, what is this nonsense.

NZ Herald really downplaying the double tap operation on an elementary school, mass burning of the cities and temples, over thousand casualties so far, destruction of desalination plants that Iranians rely on for water etc.
