From genes to patterns: five key dynamical systems concepts to decode developmental regulatory mechanisms Summary: Dynamical systems theory provides a powerful quantitative and intuitive framework to understand developmental processes. This Primer brings key concepts of this framework to the ever-growing ...

Oscillations, like radio waves, can encode multiple dimensions of information. @sonnenlab.bsky.social studies oscillation dynamics in different stages of development. In the early embryo, Hes1 gene oscillations are predictors of cell fate. #gfe2026

I suggest reaching out to NIHMS for guidance in each specific case. We did that for our recently published paper and are waiting for their response. The idea is that they are the source of the rule and so they would be able to provide the best guidance.

Americans still have more confidence in scientists than many other groups in society

Full survey results show American public have high levels of confidence in scientists while revealing some partisan differences (including on how to fund science), but statements asserting lost trust should be read instead as intentional efforts to degrade trust.

Are you an early-stage graduate student (2nd or 3rd year) or early-stage postdoc based in the US or Canada, working primarily in Drosophila? Would you like to help improve the experience of all trainees working in Drosophila research? If so, read on.

Greetings! I decided to make a YouTube video of my AlphaFold workshop that I've given a few times in the past year. Caveats aside, people seem to find this useful for thinking about how to model protein interactions and how to interpret various AF outputs 1/2

As someone who ended up using non-model systems after doing his PhD with Drosophila, you don't realise just how amazing FlyBase or WormBase are until you try to genetics without them.

AI reviewers are here β€” we are not ready Artificial intelligence promises rapid and polite feedback on papers β€” but we must first review the reviewer.
