I was amused by the latest @economist.com Checks and Balances podcast where Charlotte Howard and her guests were gently mocking Canadian politeness. Meanwhile a bunch of polite Canadian kids just shattered the hockey record for most penalty minutes given in a game.

That’s very cool. In one of G.R. Elting’s books he describes how his experience with horse-drawn artillery in the US Army on exercise out west on the 1920s helped him understand Napoleonic warfare.
I should read that trilogy someday. I remember quite enjoying his Seven Men of Gascony.

I’ve just started reading it, full of interesting characters. The first few weeks are basically groping blindly, running from contact, shooting at lighthouses and bonking into rocks. Great stuff.
Not sure what a Pepco is but I think the suggestions about going to an art store are good. FWIW I’m a dude and I don’t much like DIY stores either.

Some more SYW 28mm Foundry figures; I love painting these vignette figures to enliven the wargames table. Gustav the tired pioneer, Ferdinand who would give his other leg for Der Alte Fritz if he could, and Magda the camp follower. All painted using Foundry triad paints.
18 lead toy soldiers against a green background. They are wearing red and blue coats with white trousers and black leggings and depict Prussian grenadiers of the Seven Years War.
Newly finished SYW 28mm Foundry Prussian grenadiers. These are painted as the Anhalt Desau companies of the 3/6 Von Kleist converged grenadier battalion. Their comrades from the von Retzow companies are still in the painting queue.
I just resd that for the first time. Got quite teary. Lovely stuff.
I had wondered if that was an authorized thing or maybe Herr Skipper just wanted to unload his last fish and go home.
