Maura Healey responded to the events unfolding on the West Coast Monday with a statement: “President Trump deployed California's National Guard without consulting with and over the objection of state and local officials, including the Governor. This only increases the threat to public safety in our communities. The Trump Administration should rescind this order immediately.”

A real leader would promise to protect her community from ICE. She would say unequivocally that it's wrong for cops to shoot and tear gas her constituents and that she won't permit it to happen in her state.

But this is the best we've gotten from Healey so far.
