“Of course baby, tell me what you want to do and I’ll be right there at your side the entire time.” Odette then gently presses loving and comforting kisses on Ruby’s hands.

“Violet is important to you and by association she is also important to me because of that. She’ll be okay baby. I promise.”

Odette lifts her head up so that her gaze has now met Ruby and Odette is now just gently caressing Ruby’s face hoping at the least it’ll give Ruby some comfort

“Your feelings are valid, baby, but I’m really worried about you not sleeping. Maybe we can start by talking with your family together?”

Odette places gently kisses on Ruby’s shoulder and then shakes her head before smiling warmly at Ruby before placing more kisses on Ruby’s shoulder.

“It’s not selfish baby. You have the right to feel that way but just know that you will always have me to talk to whenever you need to, okay?.”

Odette immediately cuddles into Ruby, hiding her face into Ruby’s boobs because she missed Ruby but doesn’t like that the daylight is bothering her.

“You didn’t come to bed with me last night baby. Were you mad at me?” Odette’s question is muffled because her face is still buried in Ruby’s boobs.

“I understand Ruby, well I’m really trying to understand because I’ve never had a family but I can see yours is very important to you.”

Odette is now caressing Ruby’s hand hoping that it’ll further help Ruby in staying grounded “But for you I am trying to understand to the best of my ability.”

Odette takes a breath, patiently waiting for Ruby’s return as promised but at the same time Odette has began reading a book with a movie on as background noise.

Odette showered and climbed back into bed, watching the movie until finally Odette slowly and peacefully fell asleep, softly snoring.

“I’m not going to tell you that, not because I don’t want too, it’s actually because I don’t want you forcing yourself to stay awake for pleasure, especially if you do come home tired.”

Odette presses a kiss on Ruby’s forehead “But I promise if you feel awake later then I’ll tell you everything”

Odette hugs Ruby back and then nods her head before offering Ruby the softest and warmest smile. Odette is looking into Ruby’s eyes after the hug.

“I understand and yes, I’ll stay here but if I am needed in an emergency please don’t hesitate and please just call out for me, I’ll come running.”

Odette leans up and gently kisses Ruby on her lips a few times and caresses Ruby’s face gently. Odette then also smiles warmly

“Get through this rendering detail crap baby and when you come home I’ll help you really relax in a way that I know you will really love. Do you like the sound of that?”

“Do you need me to be there with you? I can be but if you’d like your own space then I can just stay here and be here to comfort you if you need it.”

Odette hasn’t stopped caressing Ruby’s leg because she knows that the caressing is helping Ruby feel a little calm if not completely but enough.

Odette woke up, enough but still very groggy to see that Ruby is slipping out the room and in a sleepy tone Odette calls out for Ruby.

“Baby? Where are you going when it’s still dark out?” Odette could only tell it was still dark out because no light is stretching across their bedroom yet.

“Why do you think that is best?” Odette has now lifted up her body and is rubbing Ruby’s leg to console Ruby because Odette can see how this is affecting Ruby

“Have you told her? I’m sure she’d appreciate knowing and maybe you can even settle on a compromise that works well for the both of you.”

Odette did twist slightly in her sleep knowing that something was different now but quickly turned on her side and fell back to sleep.

Odette’s soft breathing could be heard from the bathroom even whilst Ruby is inside the bathroom doing whatever it is the Ruby does inside the bathroom.

“I’m sure of it. I’m also sure that she wouldn’t want you feeling guilty about any of this. My dad, he was a big brother and he’d always tell me knowing his younger siblings were sad hurt him even after they were gone.”

Odette lifts Ruby’s hand and places a loving kiss on the top of it and smiles

Odette nods her head understanding how Ruby feels and Odette lays down with Ruby and caresses her hair until Ruby falls asleep and then Odette just holds Ruby.

“Sweet dreams, my love.” Odette then just holds Ruby even after falling asleep and sleeps peacefully with Ruby in her arms.

“I don’t think that is the case, baby. Violet loves you all so much and I don’t think she will ever leave you all. She will come back once things have cooled off.”

Odette presses a kiss on Ruby’s forehead and rubs her lower back and Odette smiles warmly “How can I better comfort you baby?”

Odette nods her head because she understands Ruby’s fear and now that Ruby is comfortable placed on the bed Odette looks into Ruby’s eyes

“Okay, so no sleeping. How about a movie, board game or I could give you a massage? I feel like you’ll need a massage more than you’ll need anything else.”

Odette nods her head in understanding and gently takes Ruby’s hand inside her own but Odette also sighs softly “I’m sorry that happened, maybe you should just avoid him for a few days.”

Odette then takes Ruby into her arms “Or maybe you can just do it anyway even if he tells you that no.”

“Why don’t we go upstairs and cuddle? I heard that sometimes being around someone when you aren’t quite feeling yourself can be therapeutic.”

Odette gently dabs Ruby’s eyes and gently picks Ruby up and carries her carefully upstairs “We can even go right to sleep if that’s what you’d like to do.”

Odette is worrying anyway and her eyebrows are pressed together in deep thought and then Odette looks at Ruby before taking Ruby’s hand gently.

“You know, I’d get so angry with my parents whenever they grounded me. I wish I had known back then it all came from love and fear that they’d lose me.”

Odette is nervously rubbing the back of her neck and then comes up to Ruby and gently presses a kiss on Ruby’s shoulder

“Baby, you are so tense and I am really worried. Can we please talk about this? I’m really worried.” Odette is now gently kissing Ruby on the shoulder and caressing her stomach

“Okay.” Odette said softly and looks at Ruby but also gives Ruby a small smile and then looks between Ruby and Violet.

“Also I am really sorry that you feel that way between yourself and your parents but I am sure that you all will make up together soon, right? Right?”

Odette is obviously holding Ruby when she came in for a cuddle, that isn’t something that Odette would ever pass up on.

“I don’t know, it feels a little criminal keep this from your parents baby, I still won’t tell as promised but what if someone else isn’t as loyal and understanding as I am?”

Odette is taken aback by the urgency and then follows Ruby into the kitchen but does close the door quietly because Odette doesn’t want to accidentally scare Ruby.

“Dinner sounds perfect but are you really okay? You left so quickly before anyone could respond and that isn’t like you at all.”

Odette isn’t entirely sure about keeping this from Tommy or Stephanie but nods her head since Violet has already cleaned up Ruby’s hand.

“Okay, I won’t say anything but if either one of them sees the scarring they are going to ask what happened. What will you say to them if they ask you that?”

Odette sighs softly and then rests her head on Ruby’s shoulder and holds Ruby for a while but at the same time Odette is thinking silently for a while.

“What now? I would like to legitimately apologise to you but I don’t know what I can do to apologise to you. What would you suggest baby?”

“Shouldn’t we clean up your hand first before we go to your sister? I think that would be the better option.” Odette gently takes Ruby’s hand and examines the burn.

“Or maybe we should ask your Aunt or Mom to take a look at the burn because what if the burn becomes infected? It would be bad.”

Odette is still feeling really guilty about how she treated Ruby and keeps playing nervously with her hands whilst thinking about everything that she has said.

“I’m sorry, I should have thought about that being a concern for you.” Odette stands up and then smacks her head hard against the wall.

Odette still wonders if she should go and console Ruby or wonders if it’ll be to soon and then sits on the edge of their bed thinking for a few minutes

“Wait!” Odette calls out after Ruby had nearly reached the gate “I um, I-I’m really sorry. Can we please sit down and talk? I know you’re mad.”
