Personally... If you feel like you have a hard time putting a new design concept (key word) into words, or in the case of an artist, sketching it out - then yeah there shouldn't be anything wrong with using it for a basic reference. That's where it should stop, though.
I'd attempted to build this before and what was gonna be a sort of funny meme turned into something a little too strong for the casual table. Yeah, there's better options - but the devil on your shoulder can pack quite the punch.
"We need federal laws" here equals "We need to know what the bare minimum if what we are allowed to do is so we can never compromise and just barely meet quota"
Honestly playing with this guy at the helm - I managed to overcome 4 board wipes and keep swinging until I was finally defeated. Absolutely love taking something a bit unorthodox and pushing the boundaries - pretty proud of it and wishing Arena had a wider cardpool. Aggro with this guy would be fun.
What do you estimate you're missing?
At the very least - Them coming clean that there's a few drastic changes that had to be made (like the above Realm Reborn card becoming pretty much useless instead of a hard reset)...
Maybe there was an original idea for Exdeath, but they needed more uncommon legends and tried their best.
There have been some hints that there have have been some compromises made to make things standard legal. That said... Vivi is going to be banned in at least 3 formats - and is by far the most ridiculously powerful card in the set. You'd expect that from a commander only card...

Certain cards (ie: A Realm Reborn) have been outright flavor fails, though they did own up to not exactly being able to do subgames in 2025... A bit sad that one of the cards I was really looking forward to (I fully admit haven't really played FF past 8) ended up being pretty forgettable.

Work has been a lot of dealing with other people who don't like being around each other at all.
The lack of Treefolk... He's basically just Abomination of Llanowar, but with a very tiny butt and works with all permanents.
I suppose you could try out some pauper edh with him?
Yeah this is the one that's actually hit me the most of the cards. I don't know the modern games very much, but it's nice to see the same love and care in design for the older games.
I got buddies who don't want spoilers, so I won't share examples. BUT, I am pretty excited.
I'm not the biggest FF fan, but the MTG set is looking super sick. Ignoring a few outliers (some of which have official comments on), there's a lot of care put into what the cards do.

My experience with commander has been pretty much entirely digital. I was into Magic when I was a kid, and a lot of people sort of grew out of it. Back in the day, I played a rack deck, and when trying EDH, fog seemed the way to go. My boy is so expensive, though...
I've been both running and in some Fabula Ultima games for awhile! I can send you a really nice character sheet that does a lot of the maths for you (it is not yet updated with Techno Fantasy, but includes High Fantasy and a lot of the free supplements)
