Indeed - the dream if you can make it happen!
That part of the West Marches concept I really liked - players sort out the who and when, the DM just needs to rock up and run the show.

Completely agree with this, alas, because it means the same reserves of patience being drawn on for the day job are also needed for the hobby, both at the table and in wrangling folk *to* the table.
Woe betide you if you also help run a games society - same same again...
Ron Cobb, near-forgotten genius political cartoonist.
He also did visual design of technology for the first Alien film and countless other scifi movies in the 70s/80s. Including the Weyland-Yutani Semiotic Standard - a visual language used for Nostromo signage.

The 1996 draft of the unpublished, unannounced Magic RPG is substantial. I made a few marginal notes when I reviewed it. I'm giving it away for a donation to Planned Parenthood, offered by secret silent auction. DM me with offers. I'm likely to get a few big offers.

No particular one grabbed me exclusively - in fact I appreciated having those genres like notches on the dial to move between.
I probably would run less horror themed stuff but even in those prompts were things I would find inspirational.
I had this back in the 90s - and only saw it played in the past ~ 2 years when it got handed off eventually to a pal with kids.
Apparently they like it enough that they will agree to do chores if they can get a game in after.
Review of The Long Road Home by @planesailinggames.com - a nice card-based storytelling game - and it could serve to set up pre-campaign party cohesion or to run post-campaign epilogues

I printed a TTRPG zine last summer and raised $3,600 for legal aid with it! Looking back, here are some of my takeaways about running such a project, with an emphasis on fundraising and project management:
r/OSR blogroll is up but I think anti-brigading tools mean there is no point in my direct linking to it?
Search for 'OSR Blogroll' and it pops up, sorry for the inconvenience...
The accomplishment of "We Read the Bloggies" is incredible. In just a few weeks they produces nearly the same number of episodes as Blogs on Tape has in almost 9 years. Bravo to everyone involved, that's incredible.
The cover of the dungeon book, showing an old-school cutaway diagram of a dungeon, complete with a dragon.
Lo, 'tis THE DUNGEON BOOK cover!
The Jungle Book meets Dungeons and Dragons with a dash of Pan's Labyrinth in this gleefully fun standalone fantasy narrated by a sentient skull, in which a small girl is thrown to a dungeon full of monsters, who decide to raise her rather than eat her.

It's been a couple years since Reach of the Roach God was published, and I'm still thinking about how it pulled off stat blocks without stats.
It's a load-bearing piece of tech that's criminally underused.

An 80s synthwave background with, neon purple, pink, and purple grid as far as the horizon and a blazing golden sunrise with hot pink stripes. EUphoria's logo in the bottom right, a round yellow frame with navy blue background, and a large shooting star made up of yellow d4s streaking from right to left, a yellow tail trailing behind. Header reads TTRPGs We Love by European Creatives. A large TTRPgirls logo in the centre of frame, a neon blue striped triangle behind the words ttrp in blocky blue and pink font, and girls in white cursive. Sub heading reads Tell Us About Your Game!
EU Creatives We π this month will feature games by European women and femmes, and we're looking for more games to yell about!
Drop your favourite TTRPGs by creatives who identify as women/femmes (including yourself!) who are based in geographical Europe, and we might feature them on the stream!
I use a variant of this - "Write the newspaper property section" - which gets use out of what would otherwise be direct-to-recycling
