I scanned my comet Hale-Bopp negatives and applied digital processing. This was taken at Joseph D. Grant County Park east of San Jose in late March of 1997 with a 80mm f/5 refractor piggybacked on my SCT. The green jet was not visible in original print and the ion tail is brighter. #astrophotography

I'm a basic bitch when it comes to food but this was delicious. Burger with cheddar and topped with taco seasoning flavored crispy hash browns and a thorough bathing in Whataburger ketchup.

see my other issue is that my first season back to F1 after YEARS of being gone was... 2012...

and I chased that dragon every year thinking it could somehow be that good again

seeing Liberty Media swoop in and basically save F1 as a whole, only to become even scummier than Bernie was, has killed all enjoyment I used to get from that sport. and the tight knit social media community from the early 2010s died before covid and it's just toxic bait farming now.

it is officially Avoid F1 Season once again. just remember, I'm not a hater, I'm just jaded.

Red, elongated emission nebula against dark-grey background sky. The nebula's form reminds of the US state California - hence its name.

The California Nebula is only 1000 ly away and the closest HII region to us. Because it's so near, the nebula appears quite large in the sky. It is likely illuminated by the nearby star ξ Persei

Orion Nebula (M42), March 5th 2026. The nebula covers a wide patch of sky, wider than my telescope's field of view. So I divided the area into quadrants, and merged the four resulting images, each made up of 25 x 4 second exposures. The end result is pretty good. #astrophotography
