Another beautiful day for Teebah and me to step outside and enjoy the sunshine. Week 2. #posthysterectomy #cancer
Another beautiful day for Teebah and me to step outside and enjoy the sunshine. Week 2. #posthysterectomy #cancer
Doggie and I basked in the sunshine today. One week down. Five or seven to go. #Hysterectomy recovery. #cancer
One hour later: some things change a lot; some things donβt change at all.
My vantage point today: my coloring book that a dear colleague gifted me post surgery and a loyal doggie glued to my slide (Aka recovering from hysterectomy). #cancer
Post-hysterectomy update: Discharged last night.
First impressions: At-home recovery is doable with spouseβs love & support. And, of course, this big puppy is guarding her mama while being super confused by mamaβs new sedentary lifestyle. #cancer
In preparation for hysterectomy, I asked my spouse for one of his sweatshirts (for comfort during my 3-day stay at the hospital). He had a better idea: He bought me a stuffed doggie to spray his cologne on, which went on one end (of course, I gathered Teebahβs smells on the other end). #cancer
Yummm
One more day of this heavy doggie head on my lap before hysterectomy prevents this beautiful soul from placing all her 80 lbs weight on my stomach. #cancer #hysterectomy

@emollick.bsky.social knows what heβs talking about. I would never have guessed this video is generated by AI. Itβs scary how impressive those technologies are getting. Ethically, shouldnβt there be GAI disclaimers for such content?
I received my cancer diagnosis November 5th (no cap). Ever since, I have been considering posting to unpack my thoughts & emotions, & to raise awareness. Every day, the absurdity of the political scene overshadows those sentiments. I mean, why raise awareness when cancer research is halted? #cancer
Itβs a good idea to download your own student loan repayment history and save it some place safe. Take screenshots, too. And act quickly as Aidvantage is moving their website in a matter of weeks.
Scott was teaching today to half-full classes today. Iβll find out the turnout of mine tomorrow. Word on the street, colleges are having parades on Friday. Never witnessed post Super Bowl parade before.
Image of Middle Ages female reading a magazine with an 80 lbs dog laying on her lap
Sitting still to read the Atlantic sometimes presents an opportunity for Teebah to rest her heavy head on my lap, like a weighted blanket.
Picture of a Ukrainian soldier with mud on his face with a Time-magazine style caption that reads βPerson of the Year, Ukrainian Defenders.β
Mindset reset:
Right now, brave Ukrainians are defending their land & loved ones, at the cost of their sanity, limbs & lives. Itβs an existential fight for their democracy & way of life.
If the Russians lose, they go home. If the Ukrainians lose, they will be overrun & destroyed.

@scottwmay.bsky.social You like the prettiest flowers.
Indeed.
Itβs fascinating that all those who voted for him were (still are) oblivious of the consequences of their choice. I give zero fucks for them.
This is awful π‘
@abbbstract.bsky.social Love your handle!
So............ I have to teach about the U.S. Constitution today to an introductory level class.
How on earth am I supposed to pretend everything is just working normally?
Answer: I'm not going to pretend. I'm telling it like it is.

We're living George Orwell's 1984: IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.
Thinking about getting a bumper sticker that reads
WE TOLD YOU SO.

Itβs okay. I am fine and grateful for early detection and advanced medicine. I will be posting regularly about all developments.
I have a cancer diagnosis. I have a cancer diagnosis. I have a cancer diagnosis. [This is *not* me freaking out but rather an effort to normalize uttering and typing these words. My hope through this journey is to raise more awareness about the importance of screening and to normalize cancer talk.]
@courtneybamboo.bsky.social Happiest of birthdays under this blue sky horizon π
