Our ponds are home to largemouth bass, channel catfish, redear sunfish, warmouth, bluegill, and more. All angling is catch-and-release only, but no license or fee is required. We offer loaner poles, tackle, and bait (hot dogs), or you may bring your own fishing equipment. (3/4)

The SFFGS Faculty Advisory Committee is pleased to announce Gary Johns, farm manager at Austin Cary Forest, as the winner of the Staff Member of the Month award for March 2026.
Gary was nominated by multiple faculty members for his outstanding work.

Spanish moss is all over the UF campus, but it wasnβt until I hung some over the humidifier in my office that I saw one with mature fruits and seeds.
Dr. Minogue rec'd the Research and Development Award for, among other important topics, his work "on applied aspects of forest management, including development of forest vegetation practices for silviculture objectives, management of invasive plants, and mitigating wildlife hazard."
Dr. Andreu won the Public Education & Technology Transfer Award. He's recognized for 8 years as undergrad coord. for 3 SFFGS prgms, along w/ his role as SFFGS Extension coord. since 2019, & work w/ the Florida Forest Stewardship Program, Urban & Urbanizing Forest Management, & Kids in the Woods.
Congratulations are in order!
Associate professors Michael Andreu, Ph.D., and Pat Minogue, Ph.D., received two of the Southeast Society of American Foresters' Awards of Excellence this week at its annual meeting.

SFFGS Fishing for Success, Project Learning Tree and Geomatics Extension coordinators held an SFFGS Girl Scout Jamboree with activities in GPS & Geocaching, Forestry, and Fishing. Geocaches were located, fish were caught and Scouts took part in forestry lesson activities.
