Trump is learning that the hardest part of conducting a two week war is the first four years.

When Brexit was slammed for being an act of pure prejudice, all the Brexiters howled about β€˜sovereignty’ and β€˜taking back control’.
Now, the very same people howl that we should just obey Trump and put our country in the firing line.
They lied about everything. All of it. Every single part.

About 800 Patriot missiles were used in just three days of fighting in the Middle East β€” more than Ukraine has had during the entire war, Zelensky said.

Invoking the NHS by mentioning doctors and nurses as being people who are more deserving whilst bashing migrants is breathtakingly cynical, frankly. Moreover, low-skilled workers also contribute, often in jobs that are not easy to recruit to:

Good article by @pollytoynbee.bsky.social

It used to be said that the one major advantage of the UK's First Past the Post (FPTP) voting system was that it keeps the extremists out.

That's clearly no longer true.

We need proportional representation (preferably STV) for the next General Election!

The political effects of X's feed algorithm

Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects'. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk's platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects.
Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users' feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X's algorithm has persistent effects on users' current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship.

A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitter’s algorithmic feed significantly shifts people’s political views to the right.

Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.

This is one of the most concerning papers I’ve read in awhile.

Only 26% of voters intend to vote Reform. Yet, that would be enough for them to be elected to government. 74% of people's wishes would count for nothing because of our ridiculous voting system, but a move to proportional representation is not included in The Elections Bill.

Mandelson’s malign influence runs right through the heart of this Government.

Not least in the govt’s NHS data deal with Palantir – a spy-tech firm co-founded by a man who thinks the NHS should be β€˜ripped up.’

I've written to Wes Streeting urging him to ditch this dangerous deal.

I mentioned this in one of my conversations on Labour yesterday.

These extra costs will cost our NHS inbetween 1 billion and 3 billion pounds more PER YEAR by 2029!.

There was no vote on this shitty deal with Trump, the people most definitely are not happy about this neither should Parliament be!

It's time to expand the European Union to include countries that represent the free world.

The UK needs to rejoin the EU, & Canada needs to join the EU.

Nobody in America is safe. If Trump’s secret police force will execute a government employed VA nurse on camera for us all to see and then lie about it, then they won’t hesitate to kill you next and lie about you.

This is fascism. They are Nazis.
