Whoβs out at #EducationFest today? My first time speaking at a UK conference after a couple of years abroad. Exciting and daunting. Would love to catch up with folk new and old!

Oddly specific advice: if youβre ever worried about travelling halfway around the world on a plane with your petsβ¦ just check out these two goobers two days after their hell flight from Shanghai. Theyβve just discovered carpet and birds and couldnβt be happier π
What an age! Every one is dying, everything is dying, and the earth is dying also, eaten up by the sun and the wind. I don't know where I get the courage to keep on living in the midst of these ruins. Let us love each other to the end. George Sand to Gustave Flaubert June 1870

Learn about critical thinking, the dangers of cognitive offloading, how to encourage thinking rather than mindless doing.... it's got everything. There are even printable resources to use in your own classroom right away! #edusky #aiedu
I'm not often on Bluesky these days as my longer waffles are more common on LinkedIn, but did you know I recently published a course called Thinking with AI? It's all about improving metacognition in the classroom with AI.
Check it out here: thinking-edtech.teachable.com/p/thinking-w...
Seriously turned out they thought I was joking but nope thereβs only one way to get the kids home and itβs hell but worth it but HELL
New boss: So how are you going to get the cats back to England?
Me: Drug them, put them under the seat in front of us on the plane, then get someone to drive us across the border from France to England
NB: hah nice
[an hour later]
NB: okay but back to the cats, whatβs the actual plan?
Me:
On the plus side, I signed up, got a free month trial, got the book, and cancelled my subscription. So at least thereβs no money for the evil overlord.
Something something ethical consumerism something something capitalism π₯Έ
Look, if theyβre going to tell me I canβt read it, I 1000% am going to read it.
(And yes I do see the irony of using Audible to do thisβ¦ four months to go until Iβm back in the UK and can finally access a library again!)
Our head of marketing took a lot of photos on the night but these are the only ones I care about πͺπ»ππ»π
When I promise to update my husband on the two important things happening today; the China school awards and tickets to the sumo in London going on sale ππ
Living the dream, two new laser engravers working non stop since their arrival on Monday! First up, a few tests, some art deco style gothic Operation games, and some very snazzy artist statement displays for our IB art exhibition!
When all the goodies arrive for the next makerspace project and itβs time for a quick prototyping seshβ¦ next up, Year 6 with their AI co-teacher Frankenstein operation games!!
(Dang, what a mouthfulβ¦) #edusky
Nothing better than walking into the makerspace today to find our new Bambu printers already set up and benchyβd π₯°π₯° We have the BEST EdTech assistant!
(Also if benchyβd isnβt a word, it is now!)

βProcess and expectations go hand in hand β¦ teachers should break down the process with students and for students.β
Time for @mralexedtech.bsky.social presenting on writing with AI, and is already off to a good start! #EdTechGZ
βWhatβs the point in reinventing the wheel? In saying: that wheel looks nicer, I want that one?β
Serious wisdom again from @drshannondoak.com talking about how and when to integrate new tech in your school #EdTechGZ
Next session is a pretty packed panel featuring @drshannondoak.com and more! Love this point from the head of Shanghai American School: βWhat weβre all aiming for - student empowerment, agency, collaboration - is not whatβs measured in testsβ
Talking about meeting my internet people, @mralexedtech.bsky.social is here and since we only ever talk online (despite literally living in the same city) he has a weird obsession with me actually having feet.
New obsession: βversa blocksβ made by Gary Donahue over at Chadwick International in Korea. I need a million kits and I need them now!!
First #EdTechGZ session with @mgwalchmai.bsky.social - Making Making Matter. Getting lots of ideas for how to adjust our MakerEd programme at DCSPX. Love the amount of integration with curriculum going on!
So excited to finally be at #EdTechGZ after all these years! Bring on a day of learning and hanging out with all my internet EdTech people!
Guess whoβs making it to #EdTechGZ after all this time? It meeeee!
Look, I'm not saying that I have a terrible habit of working on workshop presentations the night before I'm supposed to run said workshops... but I'm not NOT saying it!
I think there are so many things out there that itβs about choosing the ones that will immediately impact what you do or what you want to do, rather than chasing the creds themselves - I know I did the latter for a while before realising it wasnβt actually helping. A bit obvious in hindsight π
Iβve heard good things about this one!
I committed myself to the most ridiculous December challenge: an #edtech #innovation and #makerspace advent calendar aimed at getting cross-curricular STEM happening for all age groups. First up, laser cutting contour maps in #geography class.
Let me know if you give it a go! #EduSky
I love that theyβre getting other students to test it out!
Having some fun testing the 3D scanning app from @niantic.bsky.social to scan some makerspace furniture in the hopes our primary school students can do their own scans and 3D model some redesigns! Just gotta get better at scanning the gaps too⦠#edtech #EduSky
