seems like Mark DeRosa thought Team USA had advanced when they hadn't, which is a rough look

but I'd say it's an even worse look for USA higher ups as they should be the ones feeding DeRosa accurate info while he handles the day to day

Six spring training myths and how they apply to 2026 Blue Jays With spring training now well underway, Ben Nicholson-Smith identifies six myths, considers where they came from and applies them to the 2026 Toronto Blue Jays.

Let's take a look at some spring training myths, why they exist & how they apply to the 2026 Blue Jays. A good excuse to remember Greg Bird's epic spring from a few years ago.

Gausman in good position to be opening-day starter after cruising vs. Tigers

If the Blue Jays give Kevin Gausman an extra day between starts here & there while setting him up for two more spring outings, he'd line up for opening day.

Plus, the significance of Barger's day. With @ArdenZwelling via @Sportsnet

Barger’s big day shows he’s ready to build on memorable 2025 for Blue Jays Addison Barger continued his strong spring with a home run and a two-run single on Sunday. It's welcome news for a Blue Jays team set to rely on Barger more than ever this season.

Not only did Addison Barger homer "right off his face" on the CF scoreboard today, he looked comfortable against lefties and continued working at 2 positions.

Up at sportsnet dot ca, a look at what this game tells us.

β€œHe brings a level of intensity for sure.”

Another Josh Kasevich double. Loud contact yesterday @ PHI plus a diving catch up the middle. More and more he looks like a guy who's well positioned to play in the majors at some point this year.

Three spring questions for Blue Jays with three weeks to go The Toronto Blue Jays have settled into their spring-training flow with three weeks still to go. Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith looks at three big questions facing the team as Opening Day nears.

In the past, pre-arb players like Bo Bichette & Alek Manoah have had contracts renewed – a way for players to indicate disagreement with the Blue Jays' system.

Trey Yesavage, however, is expected to agree with Jays on a pre-arb salary for 2026.

Today was a heavier day of throwing for both Shane Bieber and Yimi Garcia and "all the reports are good," per John Schneider, but there are no immediate plans for either to get off a mound. "We will see." Both will open on injured list.

Trey Yesavage's next spring outing could be another live BP. No immediate plans to get him into a game. Asked about his role, John Schneider said "we still view him as a starter." Just may be abbreviated to start the season, like 3-4 innings vs. 5-6.

Why Yesavage may pair with another Blue Jays starter to kick off season

All went well for Dylan Cease today in a 2-inning live BP

Meanwhile Trey Yesavage pitched 1 inning. With 3 weeks before opening day & the Blue Jays talking about a deliberate ramp-up, Yesavage may be a 3-4 inning pitcher to start

β€˜Bugs Bunny’ change-up putting Nate Garkow on Blue Jays’ radar As recently as a couple years ago, Nate Garkow was working three jobs. Ben Nicholson-Smith checks in on the Blue Jays pitching prospect to see how that's all changed.

β€œHe makes hitters look foolish”

β€œTo this day, they haven’t really done too much damage on it.”

From substitute teaching to the Blue Jays’ bullpen mix, undrafted righty Nate Garkow is a pitcher to watch in 2026.

Max Scherzer can yell at John Schneider on national TV. John Schneider can tell Max Scherzer if he's not as good as he should be.

The high level of trust between those two is essential to what happens next for Blue Jays: www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/...

John Schneider told a story I’d never heard before today.

Game 7 of the World Series. Bottom of the eighth. Jays up by one. Ohtani due up third. Do you pitch to him? Schneider looked around for Scherzer. β€œHey," he said. "What do you got?”
