Actually think Morgan's conception of "singing of how the times darken" even more pertinent and precise in describing what I'd like to see, say, the theatre do, that we're not seeing it do enough
At a local arts conference a few months ago, people spent all day saying things like βuncertain timesβ¦ divided worldβ¦ fractured societyβ. When I asked why people keep using euphemisms, rather than saying genocide, fascism or climate collapse, was met with lots of staring at the floor.

This Brecht poem is quoted a lot, often to invoke the indomitable enduring spirit of the arts, keeping on keeping on, a light in the darkness, and so on. But it often feels like the important word is being overlooked, and that's "about"
