COMING TONIGHT: My first set of ratings for this year's state legislative elections in Montana!
Montana Dems were able to break the Republican supermajority in 2024, can they hold on and keep the Republicans from getting total control in Helena?

as someone who monitors right wing media, its under discussed right now but i can tell you conservatives are absolutely terrified of the way talarico is using religious messaging against them
Over 900 requests already for Pulido to perform
Old enough to remember that a ~$485B _annual_ deficit run under President Obama in FY2014 had Republicans in a full, the-sky-is-falling lather. Here in the present we're set to borrow that much in 10 weeks?!
Oregon's legislature passed a bill requiring cities to fund affordability mandates for new buildings or scrap them.
Portland's unfunded version had driven builders to cap projects at 19 homes to dodge the mandate.

Connect the dots
Republicans filibustered with a barrage of nearly 60 amendments, while Democratic lawmakers proposed nearly two dozen of their own, further extending the clock on one of the longest debates on a single bill in recent memory.

1. Horrifying ruling out of the 4th Circuit.
An all-Republican 4th Circuit panel has just ruled that states can compel trans adults to "appreciate their sex" by enacting care bans.
It even directly says that trans adult care bans are legal in the ruling.

One thing is absolutely clear right now, in the early in-person vote so far, Republicans are ahead. A lot of Western, Republican-dominated localities have more votes so far than they did on the same day equivalent in 2025. There aren't any Spanberger-won localities running ahead

Something I want to put on everyoneβs radar, ESPECIALLY if you live in Virginia.
Data suggests that *Republicans* are out early-voting Democrats in the Virginia redistricting referendum.
When it comes to Virginia, Chaz knows his stuff.
DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS ELECTION, VIRGINIA DEMS!!!
Cities either move forward or fall behind. Transforming empty lots into walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods gives people and businesses exactly what they need to thrive. Build places where people actually want to live.
Sen. Cornyn says his defense of the filibuster was for βrelatively normal times compared to where we are now.β
Asked if heβs trying to get President Trumpβs endorsement, he responded: βhopefully the president likes what he sees. But this has really been sort of an evolution in my own thinkingβ
New: The groups Trump made the biggest inroads with in 2024 are the ones most likely to disapprove of how he's doing as POTUS. That includes Black, Latino, working class, and young voters.
So much for the new multi-racial, working-class Republican Party?

This sounds like a senator who knows heβs doomed in the primary runoff without Trumpβs endorsement.
Cornyn was McConnellβs number 2 for years & narrowly lost the race to succeed him as GOP leader. Him actually wanting to give future Dems the power to pass bills with simple majorities seems dubious

Emerson has a GOP primary poll in South Dakota but the most interesting is Trumpβs approval is only 55/44
Trump got 63%(Harris got 34%) in 2024. Obviously a lot are still going to vote R but gives a peak inside how deep red states are feeling

As I said before: Ken Paxton gets what he wants either way:
Either he gets to oversee the most dramatic purge of women's voting rights since quite literally when the Taliban took back Kabul, or he stalls off Trump long enough to win a Senate primary and run on abolishing the filibuster.
icymi last night, Democrats' third legislative flip this year (and second over eight days):
Breaking News: The U.S. was responsible for a missile strike on an Iranian elementary school, an ongoing military investigation found. The inquiry said the strike β which Iranian officials said killed at least 175 people, most of them children β was the result of a targeting mistake.

we live in a society, act like it!
βI am so angry that I am going to help Trump minimize the political consequences of his war!β
slopulism will kill the Democratic Party. no tax on tips, Cory bookerβs plan to get rid of taxes on half the country. itβs all slopulist nonsense
Jesus. Incredibly cruel.
No Democratic representative has any business voting for any part of this. You will not impress the people you're trying to impress, and you're really going to shit the bed with your base.
