I noticed another funny thing on twitch. People are constantly “substreaming“ each other, but they rarely actually talk to each other. Substreaming is my word for talking about somebody else’s stream, like subtweeting is for tweets. TBF, Hasanabi never hides who he’s talking about.
OTOH, many of these people have a huge following at this point, so it’s necessary to know how they are influencing people. It’s unfortunate that it has gotten to this point.
For example, I learned about Asmongold (Zack Hoyt), not from watching right wing streamers, but from watching Hasan Piker. Asmongold is a truly disgusting person and not somebody you need to know about.
Serious people pay way too much attention to moron losers like Matt Walsh and other far right idiots. The sad fact is that when large accounts pay attention to these morons, it just makes them more popular, even if it’s not good coverage. That’s how the attention economy works.
I think all in all, the internet was a bad idea.
