Narratively having Ever Given getting stuck in 2021 to set up Hormuz in 2026 is great foreshadowing. You want your audience to understand the basics of international shipping in a lower stakes context so you drop the real plot without a lot of saggy exposition about the minutiae of cargo logistics.
The BBC are really going out of their way to not call these The Peter Files.
Tesco fuel price up 7p/ltr. Thanks Donald.
Without wishing to overly defend the man, he was put into an impossible position, by a President who didn't give any notice (as often happens), and is who is now overtly attacking him for not just falling into line. For having our own policy.
It's obviously being said for effect, but this being Starmer's finest hour is a bit of a stretch. :) But of course to push back against Trump is the right thing to do. Even if, as they say here, he still makes a pigs ear of explaining what he's doing.
The number of commentators/journalists salivating at blaming Starmer for ruining the βspecial relationshipβ is genuinely pathetic
If anyone ruined it- if it even really exists- hereβs a reminder of who did it.
Couldn't get it out of my head, so now it's on here.
Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.
Iβm calling it. Thereβs no greater piece of mass produced furniture than a Kallax

After all that I broke my FODMAP rule and got a Philly Cheese Stack from McD. It was good (as far as McD goes.. low expectiations and all that). Very cheesy if you like American plastic cheese.
Followed by a couple of Gaviscon chewable because, well, FODMAP.
Then I looked up CEX and there's good stuff that's affordable *and* I might pick up an old Wii/N64 game while I'm there... so that's likely.
Anyway. On the phones, in reality it turns out that current iPhones, Pixels, Samsung S-series are all bloody good so it doesn't actually matter and stop overthinking.
No, I can't afford those either. But if I get a watch I should get the phone that matches, to unlock all features. But what I *really* should do is ignore all that and get a Fitbit/Garmin/etc.
What really threw me was two things:
My new car aircon blower stopped generating heat. Cold air only. More expense to come, maybe can't afford phone now.
And walking into Currys, first thing I see is the smart watches I covet, and they look so good, much better in person than on YT.
I must have been tired/hungry because upon leaving work early (our internet disconnected at 4pm), I spent an hour scrolling my phone looking at replacement phones, unable to decide.
Just watched a video from a woman doing a PSA about pickpockets in Italy and she goes βyou will find pickpockets even dressed up as touristsβ oh you mean they wear normal clothes like regular people and not like a black and white striped top, eye mask and a beige sack with a dollar sign on it
Still traumatized by learning about the existence of Mr Baseball, a giant creature who emerges onto the outfield during the seventh inning stretch at the Diamonbacksβ AAA ballpark in Reno.

Labour MP Clive Lewis doesnβt hold back on the Gorton and Denton result in this interview with ITV
The former plumber has said that she'll arrive at Parliament on Monday, some time between 8 and 5.
I keep thinking of @dylandifford.bsky.social's point that everything wrong with the McSweeney-Starmer governing strategy was obvious to anyone who had done the most basic and broad of first year political science.
I am very relieved
ik we're all enjoying labour having a terrible day but it's also great bcos hannah spencer is a legit person. a proper, local, working class woman and she beat out all the slick political pricks.
local candidates are just always gonna be better and we need to return to that kind of politics.
I can see the by-election is going to be thrown away by the vote splitting Lab/Grn isn't it. It has a feeling of inevitibility.
